# chainlink-ccip-skill

A Chainlink CCIP skill: looks up lanes, tokens, fees and message status, writes sender and receiver contracts, and leaves signing and broadcasting to you.

## What it does

This skill covers Chainlink CCIP work: route and lane lookups, token support checks, fee estimates, cross-chain transfers and messaging, sender and receiver contracts, message status and failed-message diagnosis. Read-only discovery and monitoring run through the API, CLI or SDK, so no contracts are needed there. CCT pools and admin tasks go the contract route instead.

Everything sits in one `SKILL.md` file with a trigger table pointing into `references/`: separate files for the API, tools, SDK examples, discovery, monitoring, contracts and Solidity examples, CCIP 2.0 material such as extraArgs V3 and Fast Transfers, CCT pools, and non-EVM chains. One-node GET diagnosis is handed to `chainlink-nop-skill`; ACE policy design goes to `chainlink-ace-skill`. Bridges outside CCIP are out of scope.

Mainnet writes are refused outright with the reply “I refuse mainnet write artifacts; testnet only.” Reads on mainnet and registration checks still work. Any runnable artifact ends with the line that you sign and broadcast from your own wallet. Route, lane, network, token and amount are never guessed: without an explicit token the skill stays data-only, and a token send needs a direct-lane and token-support check first. Allowed tools are `Read`, `WebFetch`, `Write` and `Edit`. It targets agents built to the agentskills.io specification, `Claude Code`, Cursor Composer and Codex workflows included.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add smartcontractkit/chainlink-agent-skills --skill chainlink-ccip-skill -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/chainlink-ccip-skill/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/chainlink-ccip-skill/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add smartcontractkit/chainlink-agent-skills --skill chainlink-ccip-skill -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/chainlink-ccip-skill/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add smartcontractkit/chainlink-agent-skills --skill chainlink-ccip-skill -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/chainlink-ccip-skill/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install smartcontractkit/chainlink-agent-skills chainlink-ccip-skill
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/chainlink-ccip-skill/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add smartcontractkit/chainlink-agent-skills --skill chainlink-ccip-skill -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/smartcontractkit/chainlink-agent-skills --path chainlink-ccip-skill
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/chainlink-ccip-skill/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add smartcontractkit/chainlink-agent-skills --skill chainlink-ccip-skill -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/smartcontractkit/chainlink-agent-skills/tree/HEAD/chainlink-ccip-skill/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- find a working lane between two chains and confirm token support
- get a fee quote without deploying contracts
- diagnose a stuck or failed cross-chain message
- write a Solidity sender or receiver with the right constructor arguments
- create a CCT pool and set its rate limits

## Example prompts
- Check whether the lane from Ethereum Sepolia to Arbitrum Sepolia supports my token.
- Quote the CCIP fee for sending 10 LINK and show the status of my last message.
- Write a CCIP receiver contract using extraArgs V3 for a Foundry project.

# Chainlink CCIP Skill

## Progressive Disclosure

**Gate:** Bare `Chainlink Local` (cross-product) and bare `CCT` are never CCIP ownership alone. Without explicit CCIP signal, ask which product and stop before CCIP docs, repo/contract/config/test collection, or workflow. Within this already-activated CCIP skill, however, a local simulator test request in an established Hardhat or Foundry repository is sufficient CCIP intent: do not ask a generic product question; activate Chainlink Local's no-fork `CCIPLocalSimulator` in that repository's framework. Non-CCIP bridges stay outside CCIP routing: do not introduce CCIP imports, contracts, preflight, or workflow. For any requested mainnet write artifact—or named production chains without explicit testnet signal—say exactly **“I refuse mainnet write artifacts; testnet only.”** Then offer only read-only or product-specific testnet guidance. Other/generic: answer plainly.
