## What it does

category-narrative-mapper turns category research into a narrative map. It identifies the main stories and points of view in a market, records recurring language and framing clichés, then examines each named competitor through its narrative arc, claimed onlyness, proof pattern, and primary frame.

The skill can compare a rival’s current copy with an archived snapshot and attach dated drift notes. It draws on `scripts/connectors/firecrawl.py`, `scripts/connectors/tavily.py`, and `scripts/connectors/wayback.py`, along with competitor names and URLs supplied by the user. Findings carry Measured, User-provided, or Estimated labels. It does not build a positioning canvas or adjudicate product claims, so those jobs belong elsewhere.

- File: `~/.claude/skills/category-narrative-mapper/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/category-narrative-mapper/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill category-narrative-mapper -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/category-narrative-mapper/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill category-narrative-mapper -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/category-narrative-mapper/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills category-narrative-mapper
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

## When to use it
- map the category’s dominant stories
- break down named competitors’ messaging
- record recurring language and framing clichés
- compare live competitor copy with an archive snapshot
- trace each rival’s arc, claimed onlyness, and proof pattern

## Example prompts
- Map the narrative for <category / product> and identify the main stories in the category.
- Break down how `[Competitor A]`, `[Competitor B]`, and `[Competitor C]` present their story: arc, claimed onlyness, and proof pattern.
- Compare `[competitor]`’s current messaging with an archived version and describe how it changed over the last 2 years.
