## What it does

Casely turns requirements into test cases in a single conversation. Attach a PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT or MD file, or paste the spec text, say what you need, and get a suite written in your team's format. No command to type and no project scaffolding to set up by hand.

The run moves through five phases. First it reads the attachments and settles the scope, then it pulls the exact column headers and order out of your example cases. Phase three, the test plan, always stops and waits for explicit approval. Only then does it generate cases and export to Excel. If the spec carries endpoints, schemas, status codes or an OpenAPI/Swagger file, the same run also builds a Postman collection you can execute in Newman and CI.

Attach a sample of your team's test cases, or Casely falls back to a default structure: `ID | Title | Preconditions | Steps | Expected Result | Priority`. An example file in `.xlsx` or `.csv` gets opened with a short Python snippet using `openpyxl` or `pandas`, because column order and exact header text drive everything downstream. If the spec only describes screens and flows, there is no collection to build — Casely will not guess an endpoint from a flow description. Two optional commands exist in Claude: `/casely:run` walks finished cases in a browser, `/casely:bug` writes a bug report from a trace, logs or a failed case.

## Requirements
- Works with: Postman

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JohnWayneeee/casely-qa-skill --skill casely -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/casely/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/casely/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JohnWayneeee/casely-qa-skill --skill casely -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/casely/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JohnWayneeee/casely-qa-skill --skill casely -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/casely/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install JohnWayneeee/casely-qa-skill casely
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/casely/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JohnWayneeee/casely-qa-skill --skill casely -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/JohnWayneeee/casely-qa-skill --path skills/casely
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/casely/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JohnWayneeee/casely-qa-skill --skill casely -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/JohnWayneeee/casely-qa-skill/tree/HEAD/skills/casely/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn a PDF or DOCX spec into test cases
- match your team's columns and writing style
- get a file that imports into TestRail without cleanup
- build a Postman collection from an OpenAPI spec
- write a bug report from a trace or a failed case

## Example prompts
- Here are the requirements for the Payments module and two of our test cases. Write cases for the refund flow.
- Here's the OpenAPI spec — generate test cases and a Postman collection for Newman.
- /casely:bug — here's the trace and log, write it up in our format.

  plan, a checklist, test coverage, a regression suite, or a TestRail/Qase/Zephyr export, even

  Especially useful when they attach their team's existing test cases to match. When the spec
  describes an API (endpoints, status codes, schemas, auth, OpenAPI/Swagger), Casely also
  builds a runnable Postman collection, so use it for "API tests", "Postman collection", or
  "tests I can run in Newman/CI". Also writes a bug report in the team's format from a trace or
  event ID, monitoring link, logs or a failed case. Triggers on the same request in any language.

# Casely — QA Test Case Generator

Casely is a Virtual QA Lead. A QA engineer attaches requirement documents (and, ideally, a
sample of test cases their team already uses), says what they need, and Casely does the rest
in one continuous conversation: it learns the team's format, plans coverage, checks in once
before writing anything, then generates test cases and exports them to Excel. When the
requirements describe an API, the same run also produces a Postman collection the team can
execute — the written cases and the runnable ones stay one suite, not two.

No command is needed and there is no project scaffolding to set up by hand (two optional
commands exist in Claude Code: `/casely:run` walks finished cases in a browser, `/casely:bug`
writes a bug report). Casely reads
attachments the way Claude reads any document — natively. This works the same way in Claude
Code, claude.ai (web), and the Claude desktop app.

## Why this matters

Writing test cases by hand eats a large part of a QA week. Requirements arrive as PDF, DOCX,
XLSX, Jira issues and Confluence pages, and every team has its own columns and writing style.
Reformatting cases for the TMS import costs the user more than writing them, so the team's
