# cargo-quickstart

Runs a first Cargo demo by finding leads from a buyer description and showing the cost. Use it to test the service and save the search as a recurring play.

## What it does

The skill asks who you sell to, then turns that answer into a search for up to 25 leads through LinkedIn Sales Navigator. It presents the results in a table instead of raw JSON, with a cost receipt. The search uses about 5 credits; a new account starts with 100 free credits. The paid step has a real credit cost.

If the main source fails, the skill can look for companies hiring for the target role. A more expensive source runs only after the user agrees. You need `@cargo-ai/cli` and a Cargo sign-in; authenticate with `cargo-ai login --email`. After the demo, the search is saved as a recurring play.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getcargohq/cargo-skills --skill cargo-quickstart -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cargo-quickstart/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cargo-quickstart/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getcargohq/cargo-skills --skill cargo-quickstart -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cargo-quickstart/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getcargohq/cargo-skills --skill cargo-quickstart -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cargo-quickstart/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install getcargohq/cargo-skills cargo-quickstart
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cargo-quickstart/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getcargohq/cargo-skills --skill cargo-quickstart -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/getcargohq/cargo-skills --path cargo-quickstart
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cargo-quickstart/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getcargohq/cargo-skills --skill cargo-quickstart -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/getcargohq/cargo-skills/tree/HEAD/cargo-quickstart/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- test Cargo lead search with a buyer persona
- get up to 25 leads matching a role
- see the credit cost of a search
- turn a one-off search into a recurring play

## Example prompts
- Show me what Cargo can do for RevOps leaders at SaaS companies.
- I just installed Cargo. Walk me through a first demo.
- Find leads for my buyer persona and show the search cost.

# Cargo Quickstart — first value in two minutes

One guided demo: pull ~25 fresh leads matching a buyer persona the user picks, show the cost receipt, then save the pull as a recurring play. The point is not the list — it's that in minute 3 the user owns a running system, not a one-off result.

**A new account starts with 100 free credits — no card.** This demo spends about **5** of them. Say that out loud before the first paid call ("this costs about 5 of your 100 free credits"): it converts the moment from *a purchase decision* into *a look around*, which is the whole job of a quickstart. Never let a new user think the demo is why they'd run out.

## Bootstrap

Already signed in (`cargo-ai whoami` returns a workspace)? Skip to the next section.

```bash
npm install -g @cargo-ai/cli            # no global install? prefix every command with `npx @cargo-ai/cli`
cargo-ai login --email you@company.com  # emailed code, no browser; creates the account on first use
                                        # alternatives: --oauth (browser) · --agentid (an agent as itself) · --token <api-token> (CI)
cargo-ai whoami                         # confirm the active workspace before any write
```

**Not ready to sign up?** Two things work with no account, free: browse the catalog (`cargo-ai orchestration action list enrich company`) and dry-run an action (`cargo-ai orchestration action execute --action '<from action list>' --data '{"domain":"example.com"}' --dry-run` — validates the inputs, shows sample output in the real shape and the credit price, calls nothing). Offer it once if the user hesitates at the email step; don't detour a user who is ready — the demo is the real thing.

A first sign-in lands in a new workspace named **`Personal`**; pass `--workspace-name "<Company> GTM"` to the login that creates the account and it renames that one (within 10 minutes, while you're its only member) instead of making a second. Starter connectors and agents seed in the background, so an empty-looking workspace a minute after sign-up may still be filling in — that is not a reason to stop.
