# capgo-cloud-migration

Walks the agent through moving a Capacitor project from Capgo to Capawesome Cloud: it finds Capgo usage and swaps the plugin, config, channels and CI/CD.

## What it does

The skill scans the project first. It looks for `@capgo/capacitor-updater` in `package.json`, a `CapacitorUpdater` key in `capacitor.config.ts` or `capacitor.config.json`, and plugin imports in source files. Then it checks CI/CD: `@capgo/cli` in dependencies, `bundle upload` and `channel set` commands in files like `.github/workflows/*.yml`, a `CAPGO_API_KEY` secret. Finding `.capgo_key_v2` files means code signing is on. The agent presents what it found and asks which features to migrate.

Then comes the swap: the plugin becomes `@capawesome/capacitor-live-update`, config options and API methods get mapped over, channels are recreated with `npx @capawesome/cli apps:channels:create`. One trap here. A Capgo app ID is a bundle ID such as `com.example.app`, while a Capawesome Cloud app ID is a UUID. You cannot paste the old value into the new config — the formats differ.

You need Node.js 18+, npm, repository access and a Capawesome Cloud account. The skill targets Capacitor 6, 7 or 8. Some Capgo channel settings, like `--self-assign` or `--disable-auto-update`, have no channel-level equivalent in Capawesome Cloud: device self-assignment is not needed, and blocking by native version is set per bundle at upload time. A separate `capawesome-cloud` skill covers setting up the cloud itself, and Ionic Appflow moves belong to `ionic-appflow-migration`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capgo-cloud-migration -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/capgo-cloud-migration/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/capgo-cloud-migration/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capgo-cloud-migration -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/capgo-cloud-migration/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capgo-cloud-migration -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/capgo-cloud-migration/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install capawesome-team/skills capgo-cloud-migration
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/capgo-cloud-migration/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capgo-cloud-migration -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/capawesome-team/skills --path skills/capgo-cloud-migration
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/capgo-cloud-migration/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capgo-cloud-migration -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/capawesome-team/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/capgo-cloud-migration/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- find every place the project depends on Capgo
- replace the updater plugin with `@capawesome/capacitor-live-update`
- map `CapacitorUpdater` options onto the new config
- recreate channels in Capawesome Cloud
- rewrite CI/CD steps that call `@capgo/cli`

## Example prompts
- Scan the project for Capgo usage and list what needs migrating
- Move our `CapacitorUpdater` config over to Capawesome Cloud
- Rewrite the GitHub Actions workflow from `@capgo/cli` commands to `@capawesome/cli`

# Capgo Cloud Migration

Migrate an existing Capacitor project from Capgo to Capawesome Cloud.

## Prerequisites

1. A **Capacitor 6, 7, or 8** app currently using Capgo for live updates.
2. Node.js 18+ and npm installed.
3. Access to the project's source code repository.
4. A [Capawesome Cloud](https://console.cloud.capawesome.io) account and organization.

## General Rules

- Before running any `@capawesome/cli` command for the first time, run it with the `--help` flag to review all available options.
- Do not remove Capgo configuration, packages, or signing keys until the corresponding Capawesome Cloud feature is fully set up and verified.
- Determine the Capacitor version from `package.json` (`@capacitor/core`) before making any changes — it affects which plugin version and update strategy to use.
- The Capgo app ID is a native bundle ID (e.g. `com.example.app`), while the Capawesome Cloud app ID is a UUID. Never copy the Capgo app ID into the Capawesome configuration.
