## What it does

The skill splits app creation into nine steps and asks one question at a time. It opens with Ionic Framework: answer yes and the work hands off to the `ionic-app-creation` skill. Then you pick a web framework — Angular, React, Vue, or none — and the agent scaffolds the project with the matching command.

Next come `@capacitor/core` and `@capacitor/cli`, then `npx cap init <appName> <appID> --web-dir <webDir>`, a web build, `npx cap add android` and `npx cap add ios`, `npx cap sync`, and a run on a device or emulator. At the end it offers Live Updates and CI/CD setup and points to the `capawesome-cloud` skill for both.

You need Node.js 22+ and npm beforehand. iOS work requires macOS with Xcode 26.0+, Android needs Android Studio 2025.2.1+ with the Android SDK (API 24+). If your project is already on Capacitor, this skill is the wrong tool — it only covers new apps, not upgrades, migrations from other frameworks, or plugin installation. One more thing worth checking: the `index.html` in your build output must have a `<head>` tag, otherwise Capacitor plugins will not work.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capacitor-app-creation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/capacitor-app-creation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/capacitor-app-creation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capacitor-app-creation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/capacitor-app-creation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capacitor-app-creation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/capacitor-app-creation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install capawesome-team/skills capacitor-app-creation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/capacitor-app-creation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capacitor-app-creation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/capawesome-team/skills --path skills/capacitor-app-creation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/capacitor-app-creation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add capawesome-team/skills --skill capacitor-app-creation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/capawesome-team/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/capacitor-app-creation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- scaffold a Capacitor app from an empty directory
- pick a web framework and get a working project structure
- wire iOS and Android native projects to the web app
- build the web assets and sync them into native projects
- run the app on an emulator or a connected device

## Example prompts
- Create a new Capacitor app with React
- Add the iOS and Android platforms and sync the project
- Run the app on an Android emulator

# Capacitor App Creation

Create a new Capacitor app from scratch, including project scaffolding, platform setup, and optional integrations.

## Prerequisites

1. **Node.js 22+** installed. Verify with `node --version`.
2. For **iOS**: macOS with Xcode 26.0+ installed. Install Xcode Command Line Tools: `xcode-select --install`.
3. For **Android**: Android Studio 2025.2.1+ installed with Android SDK (API 24+).

## Agent Behavior

- **Guide step-by-step.** Walk the user through the process one step at a time. Never present multiple unrelated questions at once.
- **One decision at a time.** When a step requires user input, ask that single question, wait for the answer, then continue.
- **Present clear options.** Provide concrete choices (e.g., "Do you want to add the iOS platform? (yes/no)") instead of open-ended questions.

## Procedures

### Step 1: Check for Ionic Framework

**Before** creating the app, ask the user:

> Do you want to use the Ionic Framework for UI components and theming? (yes/no)

If the user answers **yes**, stop this skill and switch to the **`ionic-app-creation`** skill instead. If **no**, continue with Step 2.

### Step 2: Create the Web App

Ask the user which web framework they want to use. Present these options:

1. **Angular**
2. **React**
3. **Vue**
4. **None** (vanilla JS/TS or existing web app)

Based on the selection, scaffold the web project:

#### Angular

```bash
npm install -g @angular/cli
ng new my-app
cd my-app
```

The default web asset directory for Angular is `dist/my-app/browser`. Adjust the directory name based on the actual project name.

#### React

```bash
npm create vite@latest my-app -- --template react-ts
cd my-app
npm install
```

The default web asset directory for React (Vite) is `dist`.

#### Vue

```bash
npm create vite@latest my-app -- --template vue-ts
