## What it does

This skill lays out the HTTP contract for calling a crew or flow running on CrewAI AMP. Each deployment has its own base URL in the form `https://<your-deployment>.crewai.com` and its own bearer token; both appear on the deployment page under the Status tab in the AMP dashboard. `crewai deploy status` prints neither of them. Every request carries `Authorization: Bearer <token>`.

The flow goes like this: `GET /inputs` returns the keys the crew expects, `POST /kickoff` with a `{"inputs": {...}}` body hands back a `kickoff_id`, then `GET /status/{kickoff_id}` reports state and result. Those keys come from `{placeholder}` tokens in task descriptions and agent fields, so read them from `/inputs` instead of guessing. Skip a required key and the deployment answers `422` with a plain string such as `Missing inputs: audience, topic`. An unknown `kickoff_id` returns `200` with `"state": "NOT FOUND"`, not `404`.

Keep the token in environment variables or a secret store and call the deployment from your backend — shipping it to a browser is not an option. The dashboard offers an organization-level token and a narrower User Bearer Token; pick the least privileged one your integration can live with. The skill was checked against crewai 1.15.22 and 1.15.23, so run `crewai version` first: on a different major or minor, the version-sensitive parts need another look.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add crewAIInc/skills --skill call-deployed-crew -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/call-deployed-crew/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/call-deployed-crew/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add crewAIInc/skills --skill call-deployed-crew -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/call-deployed-crew/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add crewAIInc/skills --skill call-deployed-crew -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/call-deployed-crew/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install crewAIInc/skills call-deployed-crew
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/call-deployed-crew/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add crewAIInc/skills --skill call-deployed-crew -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/crewAIInc/skills --path skills/call-deployed-crew
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/call-deployed-crew/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add crewAIInc/skills --skill call-deployed-crew -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/crewAIInc/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/call-deployed-crew/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- write a backend that starts a deployed crew over HTTP
- find out why `/kickoff` came back with 422 and missing inputs
- wait for a run to finish by polling status with a deadline
- work out what a `NOT FOUND` state in the status response means
- keep a crew correct across repeated and concurrent kickoffs

## Example prompts
- Write a Python client that calls my deployed crew on CrewAI AMP: `GET /inputs` first, then `POST /kickoff`, then poll `GET /status/{kickoff_id}`.
- My `/kickoff` returns 422 “Missing inputs: audience, topic” — check the request body against the keys from `/inputs`.
- The status poll never ends; add a deadline and backoff, and tell me where the result lives.

Use when writing a client, script, backend or frontend that calls a deployed crew, when a kickoff returns 422 \"Missing inputs: ...\", when a status poll never ends, says \"NOT FOUND\" or the result field is empty, when /resume returns 422 for executionId, when a run's prompt shows another run's data, or when the user pastes a kickoff_id, a /kickoff curl, or 'Template variable ... not found in inputs dictionary'."

# Call a Deployed Crew

How to call a crew or flow that runs on CrewAI AMP from your own code, and how to write the crew so those calls stay correct.

Verified against crewai 1.15.22 and 1.15.23 on 2026-10-01.
Live-tested on CrewAI AMP and real LLMs on 2026-10-01.
Run `crewai version` first; if the major/minor differs, re-check the version-sensitive rows with the `ask-docs` skill.

## 1. The contract on one screen

Every deployment has its own base URL (`https://<your-deployment>.crewai.com`) and bearer token, both shown on the deployment's page in the AMP dashboard (Status tab). `crewai deploy status` prints neither. All calls send `Authorization: Bearer <token>`.

| Call | Body | Success response (live) | Docs |
|---|---|---|---|
| `GET /inputs` | - | `{"inputs": ["audience", "topic"]}` | [GET /inputs](https://docs.crewai.com/en/api-reference/inputs) |
| `POST /kickoff` | `{"inputs": {"topic": "...", ...}}` plus optional siblings (section 4) | `{"kickoff_id": "<uuid>"}` | [POST /kickoff](https://docs.crewai.com/en/api-reference/kickoff) |
| `GET /status/{kickoff_id}` | - | run state, progress, result (section 5) | [GET /status](https://docs.crewai.com/en/api-reference/status) |
