## What it does

For Apple Notes, c-notes uses `memo` to list, search, read, create, and delete notes. It can also work with folders. For Apple Reminders, it uses `remindctl` to show lists, add tasks with due dates, and complete or delete reminders. The skill recommends searching before creating a note, which helps catch duplicates.

Both tools act on the local user account, with no external API involved. You need macOS and the Apple Notes app with `memo` to manage notes; reminders require macOS, Apple Reminders, and `remindctl`. This won’t work on a system without macOS.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-notes -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/c-notes/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/c-notes/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-notes -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/c-notes/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-notes -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/c-notes/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install daxaur/openpaw c-notes
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/c-notes/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-notes -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/daxaur/openpaw --path skills/c-notes
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/c-notes/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-notes -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/daxaur/openpaw/tree/HEAD/skills/c-notes/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- search Apple Notes by title or content
- read a selected note
- create a note in a chosen folder
- add a reminder with a due date
- mark a reminder as complete

## Example prompts
- Search Apple Notes for notes about the project launch.
- Create a note called “Ideas” with a plan for the next release.
- Add a reminder to send the report tomorrow at 9am.

name: c-notes
description: Manage Apple Notes and Apple Reminders from the CLI. Uses memo for Notes and remindctl for Reminders. Supports listing, searching, reading, creating notes, and adding/completing reminders.
tags: [notes, reminders, apple, memo, remindctl]

This skill manages Apple Notes via `memo` and Apple Reminders via `remindctl`.

## Apple Notes — `memo`

```bash
memo list                          # List all notes
memo list --folder "Work"          # List notes in a folder
memo search "query"                # Search notes by content or title
memo read "Note Title"             # Read a specific note
memo create "Title" "Body text"    # Create a new note
memo create --folder "Work" "Title" "Body"
memo delete "Note Title"           # Delete a note
memo folders                       # List all folders
```

## Apple Reminders — `remindctl`

```bash
remindctl list                     # List all reminders
remindctl list "List Name"         # List reminders in a specific list
remindctl add "Task" --due "tomorrow 9am"
remindctl add "Task" --list "Work" --due "2026-03-01"
remindctl complete "Task name"     # Mark reminder as complete
remindctl delete "Task name"       # Delete a reminder
remindctl lists                    # Show all reminder lists
```

## Usage Guidelines

- Use `memo search` before creating to avoid duplicates.
- Dates for `remindctl --due` accept natural language ("tomorrow", "next Monday") and ISO format.
- If `memo` or `remindctl` is not found, inform the user and suggest installing the OpenPaw c-notes skill.
- Notes are stored locally in Apple Notes app — no external API needed.

## Notes

- `memo` requires macOS and Apple Notes app.
- `remindctl` requires macOS and Apple Reminders app.
- Both tools operate on the local user account.
