## What it does

The skill hands Claude a set of `openhue` commands for Philips Hue hardware. The agent lists bulbs and rooms, flips lights on or off, sets brightness from 0 to 100, picks a color by name or hex value, shifts color temperature in mirek, and fires scenes.

Room-level calls cover a whole group at once: `openhue set room "Living Room" --on --brightness 80` powers the space and dims it in one go. Unsure of a name? The skill tells the agent to run `openhue get lights` or `openhue get rooms` first.

\`openhue` itself has to be set up before any of this works — your Hue Bridge IP and an API key go into its config. The bridge also has to sit on the same local network as the machine running the agent, otherwise the commands go nowhere. Color temperature is expressed in mirek, roughly 153 at the cool end and 500 at the warm end.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-lights -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/c-lights/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/c-lights/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-lights -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/c-lights/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-lights -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/c-lights/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install daxaur/openpaw c-lights
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/c-lights/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-lights -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/daxaur/openpaw --path skills/c-lights
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/c-lights/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daxaur/openpaw --skill c-lights -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- switch a named bulb on or off
- dim an entire room with one call
- set a light color from a hex value
- browse the scenes available on the bridge
- activate a scene inside one room

## Example prompts
- Turn on the "Desk Lamp"
- Set "Living Room" to brightness 80 and color #FF6600
- Which scenes can I run in the "Kitchen"?

## What This Skill Does

Enables Claude to control Philips Hue smart lighting — individual bulbs, rooms, and scenes — using the `openhue` CLI.

## Available CLI Tool: `openhue`

### Common Commands

```bash
# List all lights
openhue get lights
# List all rooms/groups
openhue get rooms
# Turn a light on or off
openhue set light "Desk Lamp" --on
openhue set light "Desk Lamp" --off
# Set brightness (0-100)
openhue set light "Bedroom" --brightness 75
# Set color by name or hex
openhue set light "Living Room" --color red
openhue set light "Living Room" --color "#FF6600"
# Set color temperature (warm to cool, in mirek)
openhue set light "Kitchen" --color-temp 370
# Control an entire room
openhue set room "Living Room" --on --brightness 80
# List available scenes
openhue get scenes
# Activate a scene
openhue set scene "Relax" --room "Living Room"
```

## Usage Guidelines

- Use room-level commands when the user refers to a space, not a specific bulb
- Brightness is 0–100; color-temp ranges roughly 153 (cool) to 500 (warm)
- List lights/rooms first if unsure of exact names

## Notes

- Requires `openhue` configured with your Hue Bridge IP and API key
- Bridge must be on the same local network
