## What it does

bvssh-check reviews five areas: Better, Value, Sooner, Safer, and Happier. It asks for concrete metrics or observations, then adds a CALMS culture review covering Culture, Automation, Lean, Measurement, and Sharing. The report starts with a verdict and calls out dimensions that are declining.

The Automation section runs `check_wiring.py`, `check_wiring_contract.py`, `check_negative_control.py`, and `check_test_authenticity.py`. Their output supports checks for unwired mechanisms, ineffective guards, inauthentic tests, and files with no governing rule. Standalone use skips the canvas state, theory gates, and harness behavior assumed by the skill, so Mycelium is required for the intended workflow.

The skill supports Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode. For Claude Code, use the installation steps in the FAQ and then inspect the generated `SKILL.md` path.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add haabe/mycelium --skill bvssh-check -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/bvssh-check/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/bvssh-check/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add haabe/mycelium --skill bvssh-check -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/bvssh-check/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add haabe/mycelium --skill bvssh-check -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/bvssh-check/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install haabe/mycelium bvssh-check
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/bvssh-check/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add haabe/mycelium --skill bvssh-check -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/haabe/mycelium --path plugins/mycelium/skills/bvssh-check
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/bvssh-check/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add haabe/mycelium --skill bvssh-check -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/haabe/mycelium/tree/HEAD/plugins/mycelium/skills/bvssh-check/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- review quality and technical debt
- test whether delivered work creates user or business value
- spot waiting, large batches, and excess handoffs
- check security, rollback readiness, and error-budget health
- count files that lack a governing rule

## Example prompts
- Run `bvssh-check` after this diamond is complete and give me a verdict across all five dimensions.
- Assess the current BVSSH state with evidence for every dimension.
- Review CALMS and use the skill’s automation checks for the Automation rating.

# BVSSH Check Skill

Evaluate alignment with Better Value Sooner Safer Happier.

## Workflow

For each dimension, assess current state:

### Better
- [ ] Quality improving or stable (not degrading)?
- [ ] Technical debt under control (not growing unchecked)?
- [ ] User satisfaction metrics stable or improving?
- [ ] Defect rate stable or declining?
- Evidence: [cite specific metrics or observations]

### Value
- [ ] Delivering measurable user or business outcomes?
- [ ] Outcome metrics moving (not just output metrics)?
- [ ] Work aligned with strategic priorities?
- [ ] Not shipping features nobody uses?
- Evidence: [cite specific metrics or observations]

### Sooner
- [ ] Lead time stable or decreasing?
- [ ] Batch sizes small?
- [ ] WIP limits respected?
- [ ] Handoffs minimized?
- [ ] No unnecessary waiting or queuing?
- Evidence: [cite specific metrics or observations]

### Safer
- [ ] Security posture maintained or improved?
- [ ] Compliance requirements met?
- [ ] Risk being actively managed (not ignored)?
- [ ] Rollback capability tested?
- [ ] No new single points of failure?
- [ ] Error budget healthy? (SRE -- check dora-metrics.yml sre section)
- Evidence: [cite specific metrics or observations]

### Happier
Smart's Happier covers four stakeholders: **customers, colleagues, citizens, and climate**. "Not 'more for less' at any human or climatic cost."

**Colleagues:**
- [ ] Team working at sustainable pace? No chronic overtime? (XP -- Beck)
- [ ] AI tools helping or adding cognitive load? (APEX DevX)
- [ ] No signs of burnout?
- [ ] Team has autonomy and purpose?
- [ ] Learning happening continuously?

**Customers:**
- [ ] Users expressing satisfaction?
- [ ] Customer advocacy high? (Not just retained — actively recommending?)

**Citizens:**
- [ ] Positive societal impact? (Open knowledge sharing, accessibility, inclusivity)
- [ ] No harm to communities or vulnerable groups?

**Climate:**
- [ ] Compute/token usage proportionate to value delivered? (Not brute-forcing with retries)
- [ ] Waste prevented? (Projects killed before unnecessary code, discovery before delivery)
- [ ] Sustainable resource usage patterns?

- Evidence: [cite specific metrics or observations]
