## What it does

The skill lays out six phases: governance, analysis, strategy, plan development, testing and maintenance. Each phase lists the actions to take and the deliverables to produce, from a BCP policy statement and team charter to exercise reports and annual review records.

A BIA template sits at the core. Processes are sorted by criticality, from mission critical with 0-4 hours of tolerable downtime to non essential with 3-7 days. For each one you fill in impact categories — financial, operational, reputational, legal — plus dependencies: technology with RTO and RPO, people, vendors, facilities.

A separate communication plan covers activation criteria, who gets notified and when, which channels to use and what the message templates look like. If auditors ask for continuity documentation under SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA or FedRAMP, the phases and artifacts map to those requirements.
