## What it does

The skill kicks in when a conversation touches Cloudflare Workers with Bun, wrangler, edge deployment, or moving an app onto Cloudflare. It ships ready-made `wrangler.toml` and `package.json` templates with `dev`, `deploy` and `build` scripts, plus worker examples in plain TypeScript and in Hono.

Storage gets its own sections: KV with `expirationTtl`, D1 with `prepare`/`bind` and batch transactions, R2 for objects, Durable Objects with a counter and migrations. For local work there are testing recipes with `bun:test` and Miniflare.

One thing to keep in mind: `bunx create-cloudflare` downloads and runs remote code. The author advises blocking post-install scripts through `trustedDependencies`, setting `minimumReleaseAge` in `bunfig.toml`, and scoring packages with Socket CLI before installing. For the full security setup the skill points to `dependency-upgrade`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill bun-cloudflare-workers -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/bun-cloudflare-workers/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/bun-cloudflare-workers/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill bun-cloudflare-workers -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/bun-cloudflare-workers/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill bun-cloudflare-workers -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/bun-cloudflare-workers/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install secondsky/claude-skills bun-cloudflare-workers
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/bun-cloudflare-workers/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill bun-cloudflare-workers -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills --path plugins/bun/skills/bun-cloudflare-workers
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/bun-cloudflare-workers/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill bun-cloudflare-workers -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/bun/skills/bun-cloudflare-workers/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- scaffold a new Cloudflare Worker with Bun
- wire KV, D1 or R2 into a worker
- build Hono routing with typed bindings
- test a worker locally through Miniflare
- harden package installs during scaffolding

## Example prompts
- help me deploy this worker to Cloudflare Workers with Bun
- set up a D1 binding in wrangler.toml and query the database
- rewrite this worker with Hono and typed KV bindings

# Bun Cloudflare Workers

Build and deploy Cloudflare Workers using Bun for development.

## Quick Start

```bash
# Create new Workers project
bunx create-cloudflare my-worker
cd my-worker
# Install dependencies
bun install
# Development
bun run dev
# Deploy
bun run deploy
```

## Secure Installation

Scaffolding tools like `bunx create-cloudflare` download and execute remote code. Before running, follow supply chain security best practices:

- **Block post-install scripts** — Bun disables them by default; allow specific packages via `trustedDependencies` in `package.json`
- **Cooldown period** — Configure `minimumReleaseAge` in `bunfig.toml` to wait 7 days for new versions
- **Audit before installing** — Run `socket package score npm <pkg>` or use `socket npm install <pkg>` to check packages

Load the `dependency-upgrade` skill for full security configuration including Socket CLI integration, cooldown setup, lockfile validation, and CI enforcement.

## Project Setup

### package.json

```json
{
  "scripts": {
    "dev": "wrangler dev",
    "deploy": "wrangler deploy",
    "build": "bun build src/index.ts --outdir=dist --target=browser"
  },
  "devDependencies": {
    "@cloudflare/workers-types": "^4.20260408.0",
    "wrangler": "^4.81.0"
  }
}
```

### wrangler.toml

```toml
name = "my-worker"
main = "src/index.ts"
compatibility_date = "2024-01-01"
# Use Bun for local dev
[dev]
local_protocol = "http"
# Bindings
[[kv_namespaces]]
binding = "KV"
id = "xxx"
[[d1_databases]]
binding = "DB"
database_name = "my-db"
database_id = "xxx"
```

## Basic Worker

```typescript
// src/index.ts
export default {
  async fetch(request: Request, env: Env, ctx: ExecutionContext): Promise<Response> {
    const url = new URL(request.url);
    if (url.pathname === "/") {
      return new Response("Hello from Cloudflare Workers!");
    }
    if (url.pathname === "/api/data") {
      return Response.json({ message: "Hello" });
    }
    return new Response("Not Found", { status: 404 });
  },
};
interface Env {
  KV: KVNamespace;
  DB: D1Database;
}
```

## Using Hono

```typescript
// src/index.ts
import { Hono } from "hono";
type Bindings = {
  KV: KVNamespace;
  DB: D1Database;
};
const app = new Hono<{ Bindings: Bindings }>();
app.get("/", (c) => c.text("Hello Hono!"));
app.get("/api/users", async (c) => {
  const users = await c.env.DB.prepare("SELECT * FROM users").all();
  return c.json(users.results);
});
