## What it does

This skill covers Redis-backed BullMQ queues, including delayed and recurring jobs, priorities, rate limits, and queue events. It also discusses worker patterns. That makes it relevant when an application needs to handle work asynchronously.

For workflows with several stages, the skill covers parent-child jobs and their dependencies. It flags oversized job data, missing dead letter queues, and unlimited worker concurrency as anti-patterns. Unlimited concurrency is one to avoid.

The guidance targets BullMQ in Node.js and TypeScript applications using Redis. It does not provide project setup instructions, so Redis and application configuration need to be handled separately.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill development/bullmq-specialist
```

2. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill bullmq-specialist -a claude-code
```

3. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/bullmq-specialist/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/bullmq-specialist/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/bullmq-specialist/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/bullmq-specialist/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install davila7/claude-code-templates bullmq-specialist
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/bullmq-specialist/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates --path cli-tool/components/skills/development/bullmq-specialist
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/bullmq-specialist/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

## When to use it
- Set up a Redis-backed BullMQ queue
- Schedule delayed or recurring jobs
- Assign job priorities and rate limits
- Build multi-step flows with dependent jobs

## Example prompts
- Help me set up a Redis-backed BullMQ queue for background work in my Node.js app.
- Design a BullMQ flow with a parent job and dependent child jobs.
- Review my BullMQ worker setup for oversized job data and unlimited concurrency.
