## What it does

This skill instructs coding hosts on how to structure SwiftUI interfaces for iOS and macOS. It forces agents to keep expensive computations and disk operations outside the view `body`. Agents must also inspect local components before introducing primitives, while accounting for empty states, errors, Dynamic Type, and VoiceOver.

Scaffolding is not automated here. The `ios brief` and `ios scaffold` commands do not run in versions 2.8.0-beta.1 and 2.8.0-beta.2, even when capability grants are set. If `memi --profile locked mcp start --no-figma` is active, the agent can only invoke the read-only `prepare_apple_design_brief` tool. It provides requirements without editing local files.

Verification requires native developer tooling. Without running `xcodebuild` or `xcrun simctl` on an explicit destination, static review does not prove that a view actually builds.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add memi-design/memi --skill build-swiftui-interface -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/build-swiftui-interface/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/build-swiftui-interface/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add memi-design/memi --skill build-swiftui-interface -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/build-swiftui-interface/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add memi-design/memi --skill build-swiftui-interface -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/build-swiftui-interface/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install memi-design/memi build-swiftui-interface
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/build-swiftui-interface/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add memi-design/memi --skill build-swiftui-interface -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/memi-design/memi --path skills/build-swiftui-interface
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/build-swiftui-interface/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add memi-design/memi --skill build-swiftui-interface -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/memi-design/memi/tree/HEAD/skills/build-swiftui-interface/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- audit SwiftUI views for VoiceOver and Dynamic Type support
- isolate expensive computations outside SwiftUI view bodies
- generate structured iOS interface briefs using prepare_apple_design_brief
- discover build schemes and simulator destinations via xcodebuild

## Example prompts
- Review this macOS settings view for dark mode and reduced-motion states.
- Run prepare_apple_design_brief for an iOS details screen.
- Check that this SwiftUI component does not perform disk operations in body.

# Build SwiftUI Interface

Use this as Apple-platform design and verification guidance. Pair it with an installed host's Apple-platform tools when simulator, profiling, App Intents, or detailed framework guidance is needed.

## 2.8 beta availability

This workflow targets published beta **2.8.0-beta.2**. Use `npx -y @memi-design/cli@2.8.0-beta.2 --version` to verify the exact package; a local `memi` must report that same version before these recipes run. The independent stable compatibility baseline is **2.7.9**. See [current release state](https://github.com/memi-design/memi/blob/main/docs/CURRENT_RELEASE.md) and [known limitations](https://github.com/memi-design/memi/blob/main/docs/trust/KNOWN_LIMITATIONS.md). npm availability alone does not establish native-binary success.

Memi's `ios brief` and `ios scaffold` commands are unavailable in 2.8.0-beta.1 and 2.8.0-beta.2, including preview and write modes. Capability grants do not enable them. This skill does not provide an automatic SwiftUI scaffolding pipeline.

With the exact beta running `memi --profile locked mcp start --no-figma`, the host may call the read-only `prepare_apple_design_brief` tool:

```json
{"intent":"Review the feature contract","platform":"ios","detail":"compact"}
```

`platform` accepts `ios` or `macos`. This tool prepares guidance without running Xcode or writing files; it does not inspect native source or replace project verification.

Inspect the actual project: deployment target, Swift language mode, shared schemes, local components, assets, navigation, state ownership, test targets, and nearby implementation patterns. Prepare the feature contract with the coding host using that evidence, and review proposed paths and source before writing. Preserve the repository's project-generation workflow.

The supported `memi agent brief . --json` command can provide general project context; it is not an equivalent Apple-platform brief or proof that SwiftUI was analyzed. Memi's frontend checks do not establish native UI correctness.

## Implementation rules

1. Reuse local SwiftUI components and semantic assets before adding primitives.
2. Keep state ownership narrow; keep I/O and expensive work out of `body`.
3. Define loading, empty, populated, error, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, reduced-motion, and dark-appearance states.
4. Gate newer APIs. Liquid Glass requires an iOS 26+ branch and a behaviorally equivalent fallback.
5. Treat June 2026 APIs by their documented availability; do not invent an iOS version label.
