## What it does

The skill takes a post in markdown, MDX or HTML and returns a translation into one or more languages. Structure survives: headings, frontmatter, schema JSON-LD blocks, images and charts. Only the text changes — headings, paragraphs, image alt text, chart labels, FAQ entries and calls to action.

It works in phases. First it detects the source language from the `lang` field, an HTML attribute or the text itself, then parses the target list from `--to`. Codes are checked against hreflang rules: lowercase language, uppercase region. For `es`, `pt` and `zh` without a region it asks you to narrow it down. Then it pulls the keywords and decides whether a term stays as-is or gets swapped for the local equivalent, and hands the actual translation to the `blog-translator` subagent — one per language, running in parallel.

Run this before `blog-localize`: this skill handles language conversion, cultural adaptation comes after. There are hard limits too. Symlinked paths, paths outside the project root, files over 10 MB and binaries are rejected. A target that matches the source language is skipped. At the end it compares section, image and FAQ counts against the original so nothing quietly disappears.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add AgriciDaniel/claude-blog --skill blog-translate -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/blog-translate/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/blog-translate/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add AgriciDaniel/claude-blog --skill blog-translate -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/blog-translate/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add AgriciDaniel/claude-blog --skill blog-translate -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install AgriciDaniel/claude-blog blog-translate
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

```
### Claude.ai
## When to use it
- translate a blog post into German and French in one pass
- keep frontmatter and schema JSON-LD intact through translation
- pick local keywords instead of translating them literally
- verify that no sections or images went missing after translation
- catch machine-translation artifacts before publishing
## Example prompts
- translate this blog into German and French: `blog-translate content/post.md --to de,fr`
- translate the post into Mexican Spanish: `blog-translate content/post.md --to es-MX`
- translate the article into Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese: `blog-translate content/post.md --to ja,pt-BR`
# Blog Translate, SEO-Optimized Blog Translation
Bundled paths below use host Markdown substitution of `${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}`;
it is not an exported shell variable. Resolve them before execution, quote
paths, and refuse nonabsolute overrides. Pass `blog_reference_root` resolved
from `${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../blog/references`, `blog_template_root` from
`${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../blog/templates`, and needed sibling roots to agents.
Read the main reference `orchestration-details.md` before loading project
context; pass only its helper-fenced output to downstream agents.
Translates an existing blog post into one or more target languages. Unlike
generic translation, this skill produces SEO-optimized, publication-ready
content with localized keywords, meta tags, and culturally correct
formatting.
