## What it does

The skill matches your UI requirements to exact beUI component slugs instead of generating custom widgets from scratch. It handles animated React elements such as bottom sheets and prompt inputs.

Workflows run through a public MCP server or the shadcn registry. When connected, the agent checks available elements with `list_components` and `search_components`. It then inspects the selected code and adds it using `npx shadcn@latest add @beui/<slug>`.

There is no `beui` runtime package. The CLI copies component files directly into your project tree alongside their dependencies. Make sure your project is already set up for shadcn before running the installer.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add starc007/ui-components --skill beui -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/beui/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/beui/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add starc007/ui-components --skill beui -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/beui/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add starc007/ui-components --skill beui -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/beui/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install starc007/ui-components beui
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/beui/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add starc007/ui-components --skill beui -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/starc007/ui-components --path skills/beui
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/beui/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add starc007/ui-components --skill beui -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- map UI requests to exact beUI registry slugs
- install animated React components via shadcn CLI
- add agent reasoning traces to chat interfaces
- integrate toast stacks without manual animation math

## Example prompts
- Install the animated toast stack from beUI using shadcn
- Add the agent-activity component to show tool traces
- Find and install the bottom-sheet panel from @beui

# beUI

Use beUI as copy-paste source through its public MCP or the `@beui` shadcn registry.

See the [AI agents guide](https://beui.dev/docs/ai-agents) for current connection instructions and endpoints.
The public MCP at `https://mcp.beui.dev/mcp` needs no license key or Pro authentication.
For licensed components, use the separate `beui-pro` skill and Pro connection.

## Workflow

1. Discover current components with the public MCP's `list_components` or `search_components` when connected. Otherwise, fetch the live registry:

```bash
curl -fsS https://beui.dev/r/registry.json
```

2. For CLI installation, pick the closest install slug from `items[].name` in the live registry. Public MCP catalog slugs can name documentation pages with multiple installable variants. Do not assume every page slug is an install slug.
3. Inspect the selected component with MCP `get_component`, or inspect an installable item through the CLI:

```bash
npx shadcn@latest view @beui/<slug>
```

4. Install the complete files returned by MCP using the project's paths and aliases, then install the listed package dependencies. Preserve existing helpers and local modifications. Alternatively, install a verified registry slug with the user's package runner:

```bash
npx shadcn@latest add @beui/<slug>
# or
pnpm dlx shadcn@latest add @beui/<slug>
# or
bunx --bun shadcn@latest add @beui/<slug>
```

5. Read the files that were added, then compose with the named exports. There is no `beui` runtime package. Validate any CLI command returned by MCP against the live install slugs before running it.

The live registry is the source of truth. Use the table below only to resolve common lookalikes.

## Picker

| User asks for | Install `@beui/...` | Avoid |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Toast or snackbar | `animated-toast-stack` | `notification-stack` |
| Expanding notification inbox | `notification-stack` | `animated-toast-stack` |
| Mobile bottom sheet, Vaul-style panel | `bottom-sheet` | `drawer` |
| Side panel or app drawer | `drawer` | `bottom-sheet` |
| App chrome sidebar | `animated-sidebar` | `bounce-sidebar`, `ai-sidebar` |
| AI files, folders, bookmarks | `ai-sidebar` | `animated-sidebar` |
| Whole agent workspace | `chat-app` | hand-rolled chat shell |
| Streaming thread that follows tokens | `message-scroller`, `message` | custom scroll math |
| Just a chat bubble | `message-bubble` | custom bubble |
| Prompt box or composer | `prompt-input` | textarea plus custom buttons |
| Agent reasoning, search, tool trace | `agent-activity` | plain log list |
| Task plan | `todo-list` | custom checklist |
| Code surface | `code-block` | pre/code from scratch |
| File diff | `file-diff` | custom diff renderer |
| Tool output | `tool-result` | raw terminal block |
