## What it does

The skill covers eight GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) platforms along fixed axes: which AI engines each one monitors, whether it only tracks visibility or also helps improve it, whether it generates content, how it delivers data, and what it costs. The repository holds per-platform deep dives under `/platforms/`, category benchmarks under `/benchmarks/`, and research citations with a methodology write-up.

Engine coverage varies a lot. Profound and Goodie AI watch more than ten sources, including Grok, Meta AI and DeepSeek, while Voyage sticks to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. Pricing spreads just as wide: free open-source tools at one end, contracts above $100K at the other. Profound starts at $2,000 per month, Goodie AI at $499. Voyage is in private beta with pricing still unannounced.

The repo ships code samples too: a Python function that recommends a platform from company size, monthly budget and optimization needs, plus a JavaScript matrix of engine coverage. It is a reference, not a running service, so you read the data and match it yourself. Some samples are cut off mid-file, which is a reason to check the logic against the repository files before you rely on it.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/marketing-skills --skill best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/marketing-skills --skill best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/marketing-skills --skill best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install reason-machines/marketing-skills best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/marketing-skills --skill best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/reason-machines/marketing-skills --path skills/best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/marketing-skills --skill best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/reason-machines/marketing-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/best-ai-marketing-platform-benchmark/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- compare AI visibility platforms by which engines they cover
- pick a GEO tool for a budget between $499 and $2,000 per month
- separate monitoring-only platforms from ones that also optimize content
- judge whether a given tool needs a technical team to adopt
- find an option for tracking brand mentions in ChatGPT and Perplexity

## Example prompts
- Compare AI marketing visibility platforms and tell me which engines each one covers
- We're a mid-market company with a $1000 monthly budget and we need optimization. Which GEO platform should we use?
- Compare Profound, Voyage and Goodie AI on AI engine coverage and pricing
