# batch-background-swap

This skill changes backgrounds across product-photo batches or creates SKU colour variants while preserving product details. Its batch script supports retries, resumable runs and a CSV log.

## What it does

Before generating images, the skill builds an identity lock from the reference photos: shape, colour, logo, text and product details. It adds those constraints to each prompt, then swaps the background or recolours a selected part. Test the workflow on two images before running the full batch.

For batch jobs, `scripts/batch_edit.py` skips files already in the output folder, retries failures and writes `out/log.csv`. API use requires the `GPTIMAGE_API_KEY` environment variable; without a key, the skill can prepare a prompt for manual use. The script-based API batch will not run without that key. Choose `sunburst` for local edits where the logo or small text must remain intact.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill batch-background-swap -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/batch-background-swap/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/batch-background-swap/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill batch-background-swap -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/batch-background-swap/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill batch-background-swap -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/batch-background-swap/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills batch-background-swap
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/batch-background-swap/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill batch-background-swap -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --path skills/batch-background-swap
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/batch-background-swap/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill batch-background-swap -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- replace backgrounds across a folder of product photos
- create several SKU colours from one product image
- preserve logos and product details during local edits
- resume a batch while skipping completed files
- record batch results in a CSV log

## Example prompts
- Replace the backgrounds in `./photos` with white and save the results to `./out`.
- Create Navy Blue and Coral colour variants from the product photos in `./photos`.
- Run a two-image pilot and save the log to `out/log.csv`.

# Batch Background Swap & SKU Recolour · 批量换背景 / SKU 换色

Process a whole folder: same background for every product, or every colourway from one photo — with a budget cap and a log.

> Part of [ecommerce-image-skills](https://github.com/xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills). Works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and any agent that loads `SKILL.md`. Default model: GPT Image 2.5 **Sunburst**.

## Step 1 · Product identity lock (always first)

Before writing any prompt, study every reference photo and write a short **identity lock** for the product. Paste it verbatim into **every** prompt this skill produces, and never let a creative instruction override it.

```text
PRODUCT IDENTITY LOCK (do not change):
- Shape & proportions: <e.g. tall cylinder, rounded shoulders, 26 cm high, 7.5 cm wide>
- Colour & finish: <e.g. matte sage green #8FA58C body, natural bamboo lid>
- Logo & printed text: <exact spelling, font feel, position, colour — e.g. white "AURA" wordmark centred on upper body>
- Parts & details: <lid, loop, buttons, ports, seams, labels, accessories that are included>
- Must NOT appear: <accessories not in the box, extra logos, invented claims>
```

Rules:
- Only use facts visible in the photos or confirmed by the user. If something is unknown (size, capacity, material), ask or leave it out — never invent specs or certifications.
- If the user gave no photo, ask for one (front view at minimum). Text-only generation is allowed but say the result is a concept, not the real product.

## Step 2 · Pick the model

| Use **Flare** (`gpt-image-2.5-flare`, default) | Switch to **Sunburst** (`gpt-image-2.5-sunburst`) |
|---|---|
| New scenes, backgrounds, layouts, many quick variations | The product's logo / label / small text must survive exactly |
| Text-to-image concepts | Local edits: swap background, recolour, remove objects, keep everything else |
| Drafts for the user to pick from | Final hero assets and anything with dense typography |

If an endpoint only exposes other image models, use the closest equivalent and tell the user.

## Specs
- Output ratio/size per target platform (see `amazon-white-background` for main images).
- Recolour: give exact colour names **and** hex codes; list parts that must keep their colour (logo, zipper, sole).
- Always do a 2-image pilot before running the full batch.
