## What it does

backend-testing routes a request into one focused test packet: coverage planning, fixture and reset design, API compatibility checks, flake stabilization, or execution-lane splitting. It helps choose between unit, integration, contract/API, and narrow smoke coverage while making scope and exclusions explicit.

The skill weighs mocks, fakes, containerized dependencies, and shared external services. It also covers seed and reset behavior, auth bootstrap, state isolation, time and randomness control, and failure-debugging signals. Its available tools are `Bash`, `Read`, `Write`, `Edit`, `Glob`, and `Grep`. A concrete backend behavior or regression target is required before the test plan can be settled.

Installation is listed for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode. GitHub Copilot uses its own installation command.
