## What it does

This skill assists agents in writing C# code against `Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas` version 1.0.0. It provides workflows for provisioning and inspecting `MongoDB.Atlas/organizations` resources. The instructions show how to configure Azure Marketplace plan details and manage ARM resource collections.

Running the generated code requires three NuGet packages: `Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas`, `Azure.Identity`, and `Azure.ResourceManager`. Authentication uses `DefaultAzureCredential` for local work or environment credentials for production. You must provide `AZURE_SUBSCRIPTION_ID` and `AZURE_RESOURCE_GROUP` in your environment.

Scope is strictly limited to organization resources on the Azure side. The SDK does not manage clusters. Databases and collections must be provisioned directly via the MongoDB Atlas API once the Azure organization exists.

## Requirements
- Works with: Azure, MongoDB

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add microsoft/skills --skill azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install microsoft/skills azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/microsoft/skills --path .github/plugins/azure-sdk-dotnet/skills/azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/microsoft/skills/tree/HEAD/.github/plugins/azure-sdk-dotnet/skills/azure-mgmt-mongodbatlas-dotnet/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- provision a MongoDB Atlas organization as an Azure ARM resource
- configure Azure Marketplace subscription and offer details in C#
- retrieve and list Atlas organizations across a subscription or resource group
- apply patch updates to organization properties and resource tags

## Example prompts
- Write C# code to create a MongoDB Atlas organization in EastUS2 with Azure Marketplace billing details
- Show how to list all MongoDBAtlasOrganizationResource entities in my Azure resource group
- Generate a C# snippet to update tags on an existing MongoDB Atlas organization using ArmClient

# Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas SDK

Manage MongoDB Atlas Organizations as Azure ARM resources with unified billing through Azure Marketplace.

## Package Information

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Package | `Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas` |
| Version | 1.0.0 (GA) |
| API Version | 2025-06-01 |
| Resource Type | `MongoDB.Atlas/organizations` |
| NuGet | [Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas](https://www.nuget.org/packages/Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas) |

## Installation

```bash
dotnet add package Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas
dotnet add package Azure.Identity
dotnet add package Azure.ResourceManager
```

## Important Scope Limitation

This SDK manages **MongoDB Atlas Organizations as Azure ARM resources** for marketplace integration. It does NOT directly manage:
- Atlas clusters
- Databases
- Collections
- Users/roles

For cluster management, use the MongoDB Atlas API directly after creating the organization.

## Environment Variables

```bash
AZURE_SUBSCRIPTION_ID=<your-subscription-id> # Required: Azure subscription ID
AZURE_RESOURCE_GROUP=<your-resource-group> # Required: Azure resource group name
AZURE_TOKEN_CREDENTIALS=prod  # Required only if DefaultAzureCredential is used in production
AZURE_TENANT_ID=<your-tenant-id> # For service principal auth (optional)
AZURE_CLIENT_ID=<your-client-id> # For service principal auth (optional)
AZURE_CLIENT_SECRET=<your-client-secret> # For service principal auth (optional)
```

## Authentication

```csharp
using Azure.Identity;
using Azure.ResourceManager;
using Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas;
using Azure.ResourceManager.MongoDBAtlas.Models;
// Local dev: DefaultAzureCredential. Production: set AZURE_TOKEN_CREDENTIALS=prod or AZURE_TOKEN_CREDENTIALS=<specific_credential>
var credential = new DefaultAzureCredential(
    DefaultAzureCredential.DefaultEnvironmentVariableName
);
// Or use a specific credential directly in production:
// See https://learn.microsoft.com/dotnet/api/overview/azure/identity-readme?view=azure-dotnet#credential-classes
// var credential = new ManagedIdentityCredential();
var armClient = new ArmClient(credential);
```

## Core Types

| Type | Purpose |
|------|---------|
| `MongoDBAtlasOrganizationResource` | ARM resource representing an Atlas organization |
| `MongoDBAtlasOrganizationCollection` | Collection of organizations in a resource group |
| `MongoDBAtlasOrganizationData` | Data model for organization resource |
