## What it does

The skill kicks in when you write async code, actors or threads in an Apple-platform app, or when a build throws a concurrency error. It covers Swift 6 concurrency, @MainActor, Sendable, data races and async/await patterns.

It works as a router. By symptom or task it points to the right reference: `skills/swift-concurrency.md` for async/await, actors and Swift 6 migration; `skills/swift-concurrency-ref.md` for API syntax such as TaskGroup, AsyncStream and continuations; `skills/synchronization.md` for mutexes and atomics. A separate branch handles warning-free builds that crash at runtime with `_dispatch_assert_queue_fail` or `_swift_task_checkIsolatedSwift`, plus Core Data `context.perform` crashes inside a @MainActor class.

There is a conflict-resolution section. If the app freezes, check concurrency first: blocking the main thread is a common cause. Swift 6 errors are a code problem, not an environment one, so axiom-build will not help there. Core Data and SwiftData split by case: `NSManagedObjectContext` thread confinement goes to axiom-data, while a `@MainActor ModelContext` stays here. On Codex the auditors are invoked as skills rather than Claude agents, and the ones that shell out to builds, tests or simulators need shell access.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-concurrency -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/axiom-concurrency/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/axiom-concurrency/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-concurrency -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/axiom-concurrency/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-concurrency -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/axiom-concurrency/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install CharlesWiltgen/Axiom axiom-concurrency
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/axiom-concurrency/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-concurrency -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --path axiom-codex/skills/axiom-concurrency
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/axiom-concurrency/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-concurrency -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/CharlesWiltgen/Axiom/tree/HEAD/axiom-codex/skills/axiom-concurrency/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- debug a data race error in Swift 6
- migrate a DispatchQueue class to an actor
- trace a `_dispatch_assert_queue_fail` crash
- pick between a mutex and an actor
- handle stale state after an await

## Example prompts
- help me fix this Sendable error in my code
- migrate this class from DispatchQueue to an actor
- why does `_swift_task_checkIsolatedSwift` crash with a warning-free build

# Concurrency

**You MUST use this skill for ANY concurrency, async/await, threading, or Swift 6 concurrency work.**

**Bundled tools on Claude Code:** if `command -v <tool>` finds nothing (hooks off or `--bare`), use `<plugin-root>/tools/<tool>` in place of the bare name; `<plugin-root>` is two levels above this skill's `Base directory for this skill:` path.
