## What it does

Apple bundles LLM-focused markdown documentation directly inside Xcode. This skill routes requests directly to those files: 20 framework guides and 46 Swift compiler diagnostic explanations. No MCP server is required. Claude Code simply accesses the files using its standard `Read` tool.

The skill determines the directory using session context, the `AXIOM_XCODE_PATH` variable, or `xcode-select -p`. If your machine only has `CommandLineTools` installed without the full Xcode application, the files will be unavailable.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-apple-docs -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/axiom-apple-docs/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/axiom-apple-docs/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-apple-docs -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/axiom-apple-docs/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-apple-docs -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/axiom-apple-docs/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install CharlesWiltgen/Axiom axiom-apple-docs
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/axiom-apple-docs/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-apple-docs -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --path axiom-codex/skills/axiom-apple-docs
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/axiom-apple-docs/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add CharlesWiltgen/Axiom --skill axiom-apple-docs -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/CharlesWiltgen/Axiom/tree/HEAD/axiom-codex/skills/axiom-apple-docs/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- look up compiler diagnostics for actor-isolated calls and data races
- find Apple guide specifications for SwiftUI Liquid Glass design
- check SwiftData class inheritance rules from official markdown docs
- inspect on-device LLM documentation for Foundation Models

## Example prompts
- Explain this Swift compiler diagnostic using Apple's official doc for actor-isolated-call
- Check Xcode docs for SwiftUI-Implementing-Liquid-Glass-Design.md
- Read the official guide on SwiftData class inheritance

# Apple Documentation Router

Apple bundles for-LLM markdown documentation inside Xcode. These are authoritative, up-to-date guides and diagnostics written by Apple engineers. Read them directly as files (in Claude Code, with the **`Read`** tool) — no MCP server or special tool required.

## When to Use

- You need the exact API signature or behavior from Apple
- An Axiom skill references an Apple framework and you want the official source
- A Swift compiler diagnostic needs explanation
- The user asks about a specific Apple framework feature

**Priority**: Axiom skills provide opinionated guidance (decision trees, anti-patterns, pressure scenarios). Apple docs provide authoritative API details. Use both together.

## How to Read These Docs

Axiom's session context names the Xcode the user has switched to. In Claude Code it lists the literal base directories ("Apple for-LLM Documentation: Xcode detected at `<path>`"); other harnesses name the app ("Installed on this machine: Xcode … (`<path>`)") — substitute that `.app` for `/Applications/Xcode.app` in the table below. Read `<base>/<filename>` as a file (the **`Read`** tool in Claude Code).

Default Xcode location (`/Applications/Xcode.app`) base directories:

| Content | Base directory |
|---|---|
| AdditionalDocumentation guides | `/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/PlugIns/IDEIntelligenceChat.framework/Versions/A/Resources/AdditionalDocumentation/` |
| Swift compiler diagnostics | `/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/share/doc/swift/diagnostics/` |

Example invocation Claude should produce:

```
Read /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/PlugIns/IDEIntelligenceChat.framework/Versions/A/Resources/AdditionalDocumentation/SwiftUI-Implementing-Liquid-Glass-Design.md
```

These paths assume the default install; use the path from session context instead. Without session context: use `AXIOM_XCODE_PATH` if it is set; otherwise run `xcode-select -p` (it honors `DEVELOPER_DIR`), which prints `<Xcode>.app/Contents/Developer` — drop `/Contents/Developer` and put that `.app` in place of `/Applications/Xcode.app` above. If it prints `/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools`, no Xcode is selected; try `/Applications/Xcode.app`.

## Guide Files (AdditionalDocumentation)

20 files. Read with the path pattern `{guides base}/{filename}`.
