## What it does

The skill walks an agent through Avast Premium Security's protection stack: behavior shield, real-time mechanisms, the detection engine, firewall, ransomware defense. Triggers include questions like how Avast malware detection works or how the behavior shield is implemented. The agent stays inside that research scope.

What's inside is guidance, not a scanner: breakdowns of signature, heuristic and ML detection, plus a recommendation to work in an isolated VM with networking off. For hands-on work it points to ClamAV, YARA and Cuckoo Sandbox. It also warns that repos shipping cracks and keygens for antivirus products are a common malware delivery route — worth checking where your samples actually come from.

Install it if you're studying antivirus engines and want the agent to keep to legitimate research. For actually scanning or protecting a machine it does nothing; it's theory.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/security-skills --skill avast-premium-security-malware-analysis -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/avast-premium-security-malware-analysis/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/avast-premium-security-malware-analysis/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/security-skills --skill avast-premium-security-malware-analysis -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/avast-premium-security-malware-analysis/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/security-skills --skill avast-premium-security-malware-analysis -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/avast-premium-security-malware-analysis/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install reason-machines/security-skills avast-premium-security-malware-analysis
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/avast-premium-security-malware-analysis/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/security-skills --skill avast-premium-security-malware-analysis -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/reason-machines/security-skills --path skills/avast-premium-security-malware-analysis
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/avast-premium-security-malware-analysis/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add reason-machines/security-skills --skill avast-premium-security-malware-analysis -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/reason-machines/security-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/avast-premium-security-malware-analysis/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- understand how Avast's behavior shield is built
- study signature and heuristic detection methods
- set up an isolated environment for sample analysis
- compare Avast's approach with open engines like ClamAV
- explain why antivirus keygens and cracks are dangerous

## Example prompts
- explain how Avast malware detection works
- walk me through Avast's behavior shield implementation
- what real-time protection mechanisms does Avast use
