## What it does

The skill loads automotive domain knowledge into the agent. It covers telemetry processing with checks on engine temperature, battery voltage and diagnostic trouble codes, a vehicle health score, OTA update rollout and DTC-based diagnosis. The agent gets `Read`, `Write` and `Edit`, so it can write code and touch files in the same pass.

On the standards side it covers CAN, LIN, FlexRay, AUTOSAR, J1939, UDS, SOME/IP, MQTT for telematics, ISO 26262, V2X, battery management and computer vision for ADAS. The examples are Python: a telemetry dataclass, a connected vehicle platform class, a DTC lookup. That lookup is simplified. If you plan to lift the code as-is, swapping in a real OBD-II database is the first thing to check.

The skill installs across six platforms, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode among them. In Claude the file lands at `~/.claude/skills/automotive-expert/SKILL.md`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill automotive-expert -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/automotive-expert/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/automotive-expert/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill automotive-expert -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/automotive-expert/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill automotive-expert -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/automotive-expert/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install personamanagmentlayer/pcl automotive-expert
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/automotive-expert/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill automotive-expert -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/personamanagmentlayer/pcl --path stdlib/domains/automotive-expert
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/automotive-expert/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill automotive-expert -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/personamanagmentlayer/pcl/tree/HEAD/stdlib/domains/automotive-expert/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- process a telemetry stream and flag engine or battery anomalies
- plan an OTA rollout across a list of vehicles and track per-vehicle status
- decode DTC codes and decide whether service is needed
- score vehicle health from temperature, voltage and fault codes
- sketch a connected-car architecture on AUTOSAR and SOME/IP

## Example prompts
- go through this telemetry stream and tell me which vehicles need attention
- draft an OTA update plan for the vehicle_ids in this list
- decode the DTC codes from this log and rate the severity
