# auto-updater

This skill schedules nightly OpenClaw updates through cron and a standalone shell script. Use it when the agent must keep its OpenClaw version current.

## What it does

auto-updater creates a daily cron task for OpenClaw maintenance. At the scheduled time, a separate shell script stops the gateway, runs `openclaw update.run`, and starts the gateway again. The script runs outside the agent, so the gateway restart does not stop the update flow.

You can ask the agent to change the scheduled time or run the update on demand. Output is written to `~/openclaw-update.log`. The standalone script is required here because an update launched by the agent would be interrupted while the gateway restarts.
