# auto-review-loop-minimax

Runs an autonomous research review-and-fix loop using the MiniMax API. Useful when you need external reviews via MiniMax-M3 instead of OpenAI Codex MCP.

## What it does

The skill coordinates an iterative research review cycle: inspect, patch weaknesses, and re-evaluate. It runs until the external reviewer returns a positive verdict (a score of at least 6 out of 10 and a status of "ready" or "almost") or until reaching the limit of 4 rounds. Evaluations rely on the `MiniMax-M3` model via the `mcp__minimax-chat__minimax_chat` MCP tool or a fallback `curl` request to the MiniMax API.

Do not wrap this skill in `/loop`, `/schedule`, or `CronCreate`. It manages iterations internally by injecting previous feedback into subsequent prompts; an external timer drops that context and wastes tokens on empty runs. State is written to `review-stage/REVIEW_STATE.json` after every round, letting the skill resume without starting over if context compaction occurs within 24 hours. You must supply `MINIMAX_API_KEY` in `~/.claude/settings.json` or your environment variables.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill auto-review-loop-minimax -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/auto-review-loop-minimax/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/auto-review-loop-minimax/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill auto-review-loop-minimax -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/auto-review-loop-minimax/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill auto-review-loop-minimax -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/auto-review-loop-minimax/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep auto-review-loop-minimax
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/auto-review-loop-minimax/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill auto-review-loop-minimax -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/auto-review-loop-minimax
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/auto-review-loop-minimax/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill auto-review-loop-minimax -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/auto-review-loop-minimax/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- run an autonomous research review loop through the MiniMax API
- grade draft papers against NeurIPS and ICML review criteria
- implement reviewer fixes automatically between rounds
- persist iteration progress in review-stage/REVIEW_STATE.json across context compactions

## Example prompts
- auto review loop minimax for the benchmark evaluation section
- minimax review on recent experiment results and methodology
- auto review loop minimax on the draft paper inside review-stage

# Auto Review Loop (MiniMax Version): Autonomous Research Improvement

> 🔒 **Do not wrap this skill in `/loop`, `/schedule`, or `CronCreate`.** Like
> `/auto-review-loop`, it already loops internally (review → fix → re-review),
> feeding each round's prior-round summary into the next review prompt (the
> backend is a stateless per-round API call, not a shared thread). An external
> timer re-enters from the top each tick, dropping that accumulated context and
> firing the verdict on wall-clock time instead of on artifact change — zero
> new signal, full token cost. Schedule the *external wait that precedes it*,
> not the verdict. See
> [`shared-references/external-cadence.md`](../shared-references/external-cadence.md).

Autonomously iterate: review → implement fixes → re-review, until the external reviewer gives a positive assessment or MAX_ROUNDS is reached.

## Context: $ARGUMENTS

## Constants

- MAX_ROUNDS = 4
- POSITIVE_THRESHOLD: score >= 6/10 **AND** verdict ∈ {"ready", "almost"} — **both** must hold, matching the operative STOP CONDITION below. Verdict vocabulary is {"ready", "almost", "not ready"}. (Earlier wording used `or` and a stale verdict set; the `AND` form is authoritative.)
- REVIEW_DOC: `review-stage/AUTO_REVIEW.md` (cumulative log) *(fall back to `./AUTO_REVIEW.md` for legacy projects)*
- REVIEWER_MODEL = `MiniMax-M3` — Model used via MiniMax API

## API Configuration

This skill uses MiniMax API for external review. Two methods are supported:

### Method 1: MCP Tool (Primary)

If `mcp__minimax-chat__minimax_chat` is available, use it:

```
mcp__minimax-chat__minimax_chat:
  prompt: |
    [Review prompt content]
  model: "MiniMax-M3"
  system: "You are a senior machine learning researcher..."
```

### Method 2: curl (Fallback)

If MCP is not available, use curl directly:

```bash
curl -s "https://api.minimax.io/v1/chat/completions" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $MINIMAX_API_KEY" \
  -d '{
    "model": "MiniMax-M3",
    "messages": [
      {"role": "system", "content": "You are a senior ML researcher..."},
````
