## What it does

The skill provides a structured testing guide for login and recovery workflows. It covers direct SQL injection patterns such as `admin'--`, account enumeration through response timing differences, and password reset flaws. Testing scenarios include predictable timestamp-based reset tokens, `Host` header injection in reset emails, and token leaks via the `Referer` header.

For rate limiting, the guide outlines lockout bypasses using `X-Forwarded-For` headers, reverse brute forcing, and credential stuffing with Hydra. The multi-factor authentication section targets two common flaws: session cookies set before second-factor validation and unthrottled brute forcing of 4-6 digit TOTP codes.

The playbook intentionally focuses on login forms and excludes JWT or OAuth attacks. That means you will need a separate reference when auditing token-based single sign-on flows.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill authbypass-authentication-flaws -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/authbypass-authentication-flaws/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/authbypass-authentication-flaws/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill authbypass-authentication-flaws -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/authbypass-authentication-flaws/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill authbypass-authentication-flaws -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/authbypass-authentication-flaws/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install yaklang/hack-skills authbypass-authentication-flaws
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/authbypass-authentication-flaws/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill authbypass-authentication-flaws -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/yaklang/hack-skills --path skills/authbypass-authentication-flaws
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/authbypass-authentication-flaws/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill authbypass-authentication-flaws -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- audit login forms for SQL injection bypasses
- identify predictable or leaking password reset tokens
- test brute-force protections using header-based IP rotation
- verify whether session cookies activate before MFA checks

## Example prompts
- Audit this login endpoint for SQL injection bypasses and suggest test payloads
- Draft a test plan for password reset vulnerabilities including Host header injection
- Check our two-step authentication flow for session issuance prior to TOTP verification

# SKILL: Authentication Bypass — Expert Attack Playbook

> **AI LOAD INSTRUCTION**: Expert authentication bypass techniques. Covers SQL injection-based login bypass, password reset flaws, token predictability, account enumeration, brute force bypass, and multi-factor auth bypass. Distinct from JWT/OAuth (covered in ../jwt-oauth-token-attacks/SKILL.md). Focus on the login mechanism itself.

## 0. AUTHORIZED CREDENTIAL TEST PLANNING

After reducing routing entries, default credentials, username variants, port focus, and wordlist sizing are handled here in one place.

### Service-first tiny sets

| Service Type | First Usernames | First Passwords |
|---|---|---|
| phpMyAdmin | `root`, `admin` | empty, `root`, `phpmyadmin`, `admin` |
| FTP | `ftp`, `admin`, `test` | empty, `ftp`, `admin`, `123456` |
| SSH | `root`, `admin`, service account names | `root`, `admin`, seasonal variants |
| MySQL | `root`, `mysql` | empty, `root`, `mysql` |
| Tomcat / Java admin | `tomcat`, `admin`, `manager` | `tomcat`, `admin`, `s3cret` |
| WebLogic | `weblogic`, `admin` | `weblogic`, `welcome1`, `admin` |

### Username classes

| Class | Examples |
|---|---|
| Generic admins | `admin`, `administrator`, `root`, `test`, `guest` |
| Support / ops | `dev`, `ops`, `sysadmin`, `service`, `backup` |
| Name-based | `firstname`, `lastname`, `f.lastname`, `first.last` |
| Mail-derived | left side of corporate email formats |
| Product-based | `tomcat`, `weblogic`, `jenkins`, `gitlab` |

### Wordlist sizing and port focus

| Scenario | Preferred Size | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Default admin panel | 5 to 50 passwords | Defaults beat giant lists here |
| Internal service with known product | vendor-specific small set | Better signal than generic lists |
| Consumer login with weak controls | Top 20 or Top 100 | Fast verification |
| Rate-limited login | tiny list + header/rotation strategy | Preserve attempts |
| Offline hash cracking | large dictionaries | Online brute rules do not apply |

Prioritize common ports and service surfaces: 80/443/8080/8443 admin panels, 22 SSH, 21 FTP, and 3306/5432/6379/27017 data or management services.

## 1. SQL INJECTION LOGIN BYPASS

Classic but still found in legacy systems, custom ORMs, and raw query code:

```sql
-- Basic bypass (admin user assumed first row):
````

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 103ab90c09a6ddc1 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
