# asb-more-or-less

Makes a business commit to one of three pricing strategies and line everything up behind it. Useful when your price, your marketing promises and your product tell different stories.

## What it does

The skill runs in three gated phases. First it collects the current reality: what you charge, what your marketing claims, which segments you actually serve. Then it maps that onto three strategies — More for More (the best, priced to match), More for Less (what people need at a reasonable price), Less for Less (minimal but very cheap) — and points out where you are running two or three at once.

Phase two is the uncomfortable part. The agent interrogates the trade-offs until you pick one strategy and accept its consequences as a whole batch, not a menu. Phase three audits every signal — pricing page, homepage, support, roadmap — into a keep / stop / start plan, ordered by how badly each item contradicts the chosen story.

It does not set the actual price number, write a price-increase announcement, define the ideal customer or rewrite marketing copy. Those are separate jobs that consume this decision. Worth installing if you already sell something; there is nothing to reconcile on a product with no customers.

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add asmartbear/asb-skills --skill asb-more-or-less -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/asmartbear/asb-skills/tree/HEAD/.claude/skills/asb-more-or-less/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- find where the pricing page and the homepage promise different things
- choose between premium, mid-market and budget positioning
- spot the places where two strategies are running at once
- accept the full set of consequences instead of half of them
- turn the audit into a keep / stop / start list for pricing, homepage and support

## Example prompts
- Work through our pricing strategy: here is the price list, the landing copy and our customer segments
- We claim premium but discount constantly. Where are we contradicting ourselves?
- Audit the pricing page, homepage and roadmap and tell me what to keep, stop and start

# More or Less — pick one pricing strategy and align behind it

There are exactly three self-consistent ways to price a business:

| More for More | More for Less | Less for Less |
|:----|:----|:----|
| Enjoy the best, with a price to match. | Everything you actually need, at a reasonable price. | Minimal, but incredibly affordable. |
| _Luxury. Advantage._ | _High ROI. Practical._ | _A steal. Accessible._ |

All three are valid — each has wildly successful companies of every size in
every industry. Each also drags along a batch of consequences: some you'll
love, some you'll hate, and you must accept the whole batch. The **only wrong
move is not to choose** — to send mixed signals, where your price promises one
thing and your product does another, and the customer walks away confused.
Confused customers don't buy.

Most companies are mixing two or three of these right now without realizing it,
because the marketing copy was written last year, the price was set the year
before, and the product accreted over three years of incremental decisions.
Each choice made sense in isolation; the contradictions are only visible when
you lay them side by side. A **multiplier of clarity** appears when a company
picks exactly one strategy and aligns its entire operation behind it.

This skill does two jobs, in strict order:

1. **Decide** which single strategy is actually right for this business.
