## What it does

argocd-gitops covers ArgoCD workflows for Kubernetes: defining applications from Git repositories, enabling automated synchronization, pruning resources, and restoring drifted changes. Its examples use `Application`, `AppProject`, and `ApplicationSet` resources with Git, list, and matrix generators.

The skill also shows Helm and Kustomize application definitions, environment and cluster layouts, sync waves, and sync hooks for jobs such as migrations. Sync settings include retries, namespace creation, and progressive delivery patterns.

You need a Kubernetes cluster with ArgoCD installed, a configured `kubectl`, and a Git repository containing manifests. Without those prerequisites, the skill can describe the setup but cannot deliver resources to a cluster.

## Requirements
- Works with: Kubernetes

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill argocd-gitops -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/argocd-gitops/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/argocd-gitops/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill argocd-gitops -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/argocd-gitops/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill argocd-gitops -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/argocd-gitops/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills argocd-gitops
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/argocd-gitops/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill argocd-gitops -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --path devops/orchestration/argocd-gitops
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/argocd-gitops/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill argocd-gitops -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- configure Git-driven Kubernetes deployments
- keep cluster state aligned with a Git repository
- generate applications for several environments or clusters
- apply pruning and self-healing sync policies
- order deployments with sync waves and hooks

## Example prompts
- Set up ArgoCD GitOps for Kubernetes and create an `Application` for production from a Git repository.
- Build an `ApplicationSet` from `environments/*` and enable automated synchronization.
- Show a Helm-based ArgoCD application with `syncPolicy`, sync waves, and a migration hook.

# ArgoCD GitOps

Implement declarative continuous delivery for Kubernetes with ArgoCD.

## When to Use This Skill

Use this skill when:
- Implementing GitOps workflows for Kubernetes
- Automating deployments from Git repositories
- Managing multiple environments declaratively
- Implementing progressive delivery strategies
- Synchronizing cluster state with Git

## Prerequisites

- Kubernetes cluster with ArgoCD installed
- kubectl configured
- Git repository for manifests
- ArgoCD CLI (optional)

## Installation

```bash
# Create namespace
kubectl create namespace argocd
# Install ArgoCD
kubectl apply -n argocd -f https://raw.githubusercontent.com/argoproj/argo-cd/stable/manifests/install.yaml
# Get admin password
kubectl -n argocd get secret argocd-initial-admin-secret \
  -o jsonpath="{.data.password}" | base64 -d
# Port forward to access UI
kubectl port-forward svc/argocd-server -n argocd 8080:443
# Login with CLI
argocd login localhost:8080
```

## Application Definition

### Basic Application

```yaml
