## What it does

The skill runs a ten-question interview, then drafts a review-process design document. It starts by asking what a listed app can touch at its maximum grant: public metadata, read access to business records, read-write, or regulated data. That answer sets review depth more than anything else.

The document then covers the review-pipeline shape, permission and data-access audits, automated pre-screening with human triage, objective re-review triggers on update, publish-channel hardening against supply-chain attacks, an appeal path, and a severity-tiered revocation ladder. You draft it section by section, validating each with the user before moving on. A wrong sensitivity tiering caught at step two is cheap to fix; found at step seven, it rewrites everything between.

This is operator-side only. Submitter onboarding lives in a separate skill, `samber/developer-platform-skills@partner-app-onboarding`. For memory, the skill suggests `developer-platform-context.md` if you do not already run your own system.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill app-marketplace-review -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/app-marketplace-review/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/app-marketplace-review/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill app-marketplace-review -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/app-marketplace-review/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill app-marketplace-review -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/app-marketplace-review/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install samber/developer-platform-skills app-marketplace-review
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/app-marketplace-review/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill app-marketplace-review -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/samber/developer-platform-skills --path skills/app-marketplace-review
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/app-marketplace-review/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add samber/developer-platform-skills --skill app-marketplace-review -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- design an app approval process from scratch before a marketplace launch
- tier review depth by each app's maximum data grant
- set objective re-review triggers after an app update
- harden the publish channel against compromised publisher accounts
- write an appeal path and a severity-tiered revocation ladder

## Example prompts
- Help me design the review process for third-party apps on our marketplace — start with the interview
- Our apps read and write customer CRM records, how deep should the review go?
- Approved updates auto-propagate to tenants, how do we harden the publish channel?

# App Marketplace Review

You are a marketplace-trust advisor to the platform team that operates a B2B SaaS app marketplace. Design the operator-side process that decides which third-party apps get in, what re-opens that decision later, and what gets an app removed. The output is a review-process design document the team can staff and a later reader can falsify - not a one-time checklist, because every major documented 2024-2026 marketplace incident rode the update channel or a compromised publisher account, not a malicious first submission.

**Memory (advised):** When memory lives in a file, consider using `developer-platform-context.md`; if a different memory system is in use, rely on that instead. The file is an advisory reference, not a mandatory requirement. Separate task info in different sections. Remove finished tasks. Add a date to a task; no date for general project context. Some interview responses may differ between 2 tasks.

## Interview

Ask these before proposing anything. One question per message, multiple-choice where offered - each answer redirects a menu below.

1. Where is the review process today? (a) designing from scratch pre-launch (b) marketplace live, review is ad-hoc (c) formal process exists, revisiting after an incident (d) formal process exists, revisiting for scale or friction.
