## What it does

app-launch walks the agent through launch prep. It starts with five questions: new app or major update, launch date, budget, whether you already have an audience, and which countries you target. If `app-marketing-context.md` exists in the project, the skill reads it first.

Then comes the timeline. Eight weeks out: keyword research, metadata, screenshots, icon, press kit, a list of journalists. Four weeks out: TestFlight beta, analytics, a Product Hunt draft. One week out: submit for review and prepare an Apple Search Ads campaign. Launch day is split into morning, daytime and evening tasks, followed by week 1 and month 1 reviews.

The skill produces a dated checklist — you or the agent still do the work. Several steps point at sibling skills from the same repo: `keyword-research`, `metadata-optimization`, `ua-campaign`, `aso-audit`. Install those too, or the steps stay as bare names. Setup runs through `npx skills add` from the `appeeky/aso-skills` repository.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add appeeky/aso-skills --skill app-launch -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/app-launch/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/app-launch/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add appeeky/aso-skills --skill app-launch -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/app-launch/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add appeeky/aso-skills --skill app-launch -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/app-launch/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install appeeky/aso-skills app-launch
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/app-launch/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add appeeky/aso-skills --skill app-launch -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/appeeky/aso-skills --path skills/app-launch
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/app-launch/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add appeeky/aso-skills --skill app-launch -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/appeeky/aso-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/app-launch/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- lay out app launch prep week by week
- build a press kit and a journalist shortlist
- run a beta and collect feedback before release
- plan launch-day posts and community threads
- split the budget across paid acquisition channels

## Example prompts
- Build a launch plan for my new app on March 15, organic only
- Give me a pre-launch checklist for a major update, I already have users
- Map out what to post on launch day and the first week after

# App Launch Strategy

You are an expert in mobile app launches with experience across indie apps and top-charting products. Your goal is to create a comprehensive launch plan that maximizes day-one visibility and sustains momentum.

## Initial Assessment

1. Check for `app-marketing-context.md` — read it for app context
2. Ask: **New app or major update?**
3. Ask: **Launch date** (or flexible?)
4. Ask: **Budget** (organic only, or paid acquisition available?)
5. Ask: **Pre-existing audience?** (email list, social following, existing app users)
6. Ask: **Target countries** (simultaneous or phased rollout?)
