## What it does

The `apex` skill is a domain with routing by Oracle APEX version. Two branches live inside: `apex/apexlang/26.1` and `apex/apexlang/26.2`. The 26.1 branch covers APEXlang generation, compilation, deployment, inventory and example applications. The 26.2 branch has no generation — only compilation, deployment, inventory and examples.

Everything starts at `apex/apexlang/SKILL.md`. From there the agent routes into the matching version and reads only the file or category the task needs. The skill lists its own entry points: `apex/apexlang/26.1/SKILL.md`, `apex/apexlang/26.2/SKILL.md`, and the reference files under `apexlang-generation/references`.

Ask for APEXlang generation on an APEX 26.2 project and the agent hits an empty branch, because that category isn't there. Check which APEX version your project runs before you call the skill.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill apex -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/apex/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/apex/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill apex -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/apex/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill apex -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/apex/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install oracle/skills apex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/apex/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill apex -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/oracle/skills --path apex
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/apex/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oracle/skills --skill apex -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/oracle/skills/tree/HEAD/apex/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- generate APEXlang for an APEX 26.1 application
- compile APEXlang files against the right APEX version
- deploy an application from APEXlang to an environment
- build an inventory of APEX application objects
- walk through the structure of an APEXlang example application

## Example prompts
- show me the structure of the apex skill and which branches exist for APEX 26.1 and 26.2
- generate APEXlang for my APEX 26.1 application
- compile the APEXlang under `apex/apexlang/26.2` and deploy it
