## What it does

The skill runs an audit in five stages: baseline, mapping each intent to an existing URL, SERP research, the smallest useful change, then prioritisation and measurement. Its stance is blunt — a technically valid page is only eligible for indexing, not guaranteed to be crawled, indexed or ranked. New pages come last, after existing owners have been fixed or consolidated.

Three references carry the rules: `references/framework.md` for baseline, indexing decisions and prioritisation, `references/page-planning.md` for intent ownership and briefs, `references/guardrails.md` for quality boundaries. The deliverable is an evidence table: query or task, current owner, GSC status and date, SERP finding, action (fix, update, consolidate, new, wait), priority, measurement plan. Page briefs are added only where a new page or a substantial rewrite is justified.

It works with a browser, an SEO platform or local site data. When Search Console is unavailable, it names which conclusions stay unverified and continues from public crawling. `anycap search --query "<topic>" --no-crawl --max-results 10` is an optional research command; it reports no Google positions and no search volume. Keep authenticated GSC and Ahrefs exports in a private ignored location.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anycap-ai/anycap --skill anycap-ai-tool-seo -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/anycap-ai-tool-seo/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/anycap-ai-tool-seo/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anycap-ai/anycap --skill anycap-ai-tool-seo -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/anycap-ai-tool-seo/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anycap-ai/anycap --skill anycap-ai-tool-seo -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/anycap-ai-tool-seo/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install anycap-ai/anycap anycap-ai-tool-seo
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/anycap-ai-tool-seo/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anycap-ai/anycap --skill anycap-ai-tool-seo -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/anycap-ai/anycap --path skills/anycap-ai-tool-seo
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/anycap-ai-tool-seo/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add anycap-ai/anycap --skill anycap-ai-tool-seo -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/anycap-ai/anycap/tree/HEAD/skills/anycap-ai-tool-seo/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pull a baseline of impressions and clicks from Search Console
- find which URL already owns a given intent
- tell a real indexing blocker apart from thin content
- merge overlapping pages instead of shipping competing URLs
- check that translated pages are localized and hreflang matches canonical

## Example prompts
- audit this site's search visibility and give me the priority table
- which pages compete for the same intent, and what should happen to them
- write a page brief for a task the current inventory does not cover

# AnyCap AI Tool SEO

Audit search visibility and decide what to fix, improve, consolidate, or publish next. A technically valid page is only eligible for indexing; it is not guaranteed to be crawled, indexed, or ranked.

Read [framework.md](references/framework.md), [page-planning.md](references/page-planning.md), and [guardrails.md](references/guardrails.md) before recommending site-wide changes. Use the current site and first-party evidence as the source of truth for its status.

## Workflow

### 1. Establish the baseline

- Identify the site, searcher, target market, conversion path, current URL inventory, and recently changed or retired URLs. Infer missing context from the site when possible.
- In Google Search Console (GSC), compare complete date ranges and page/query cohorts. Separate branded from non-branded searches and current URLs from retired URLs. Record impressions, clicks, index coverage, and the last complete data date. Do not infer that a past algorithmic visibility loss has ended solely because manual actions and security issues are clear.
- Use Ahrefs or similar tools for competitor discovery and keyword estimates; use GSC for the site's observed Google Search performance. Label estimates and time windows.
- If GSC is unavailable, say which conclusions remain unverified and continue with public crawling and site evidence.

### 2. Map each intent to an existing URL

- Before proposing a page, identify its current owner. Check that URL's response code, robots directives, canonical, sitemap presence, internal links, rendered content, and GSC URL Inspection when available.
- Distinguish stored inspection data from a live test. Record Google's last crawl date. A live test showing eligibility does not mean the URL is indexed.
