## What it does

Feed it your current product and market definition, penetration numbers, customer insights, company constraints, growth targets and competitive picture. The skill walks all four quadrants — market penetration, market development, product development, diversification — and returns 2–3 concrete opportunities per quadrant with market size, resource estimates and competitive notes.

From there it ranks the opportunities by strategic fit, revenue potential, feasibility and time to profitability, then drafts a go-to-market plan for the top two or three, a phased roadmap with milestones, and a risk mitigation list. It flags penetration as the lowest-risk quadrant and diversification as the highest, and warns against chasing all four at once.

Installation runs through `npx skills add` and drops `SKILL.md` into your platform's skills directory. No API keys, no external services — it is a prompt instruction that runs inside the agent.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ansoff-matrix/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ansoff-matrix/
### Codex
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add phuryn/pm-skills --skill ansoff-matrix -a codex
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ansoff-matrix/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
### Cursor
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add phuryn/pm-skills --skill ansoff-matrix -a cursor
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ansoff-matrix/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/
### GitHub Copilot
1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install phuryn/pm-skills ansoff-matrix
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add phuryn/pm-skills --skill ansoff-matrix -a opencode
```
## When to use it
- lay out growth options across the Ansoff quadrants
- size the risk and timeline for each expansion path
- pick two or three priority markets or products
- draft a go-to-market plan and phased roadmap
- define success metrics and leading indicators for the growth strategy
## Example prompts
- Build an Ansoff Matrix for our SaaS: current product is a task tracker for small teams, current market is the US
- Map our growth options across the four quadrants and estimate resources for each
- Which quadrant gives the best risk-reward for us right now?
