## What it does

This skill gives the agent working knowledge of Anime.js, an animation engine for DOM elements, CSS properties, SVG attributes and plain JavaScript objects. It runs on vanilla JS and any framework, so it fits projects that are not tied to React.

The reference covers `anime()`: targets as a selector, DOM node or object, individual transforms like `translateX` and `rotate`, timelines with relative offsets (`'-=500'`, `'+=200'`), `anime.stagger()` with grid and center origin, path morphing through the `d` attribute, line drawing with `anime.setDashoffset`, plus spring and step easing. Separate sections handle React and Vue integration, motion along a path, and manual playback control.

The skill does not install the library itself — you add Anime.js to your project on your own. The agent treats the file as a reference, so a custom scroll-to-animation binding or a house easing curve still needs your own code.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animejs -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/animejs/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/animejs/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animejs -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/animejs/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animejs -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/animejs/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install freshtechbro/claudedesignskills animejs
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/animejs/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animejs -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --path plugins/bundles/animation-components/skills/animejs
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/animejs/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animejs -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/freshtechbro/claudedesignskills/tree/HEAD/plugins/bundles/animation-components/skills/animejs/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- chain several animations with exact timing between steps
- reveal a list of elements in a staggered cascade
- draw an SVG outline as it scrolls into view
- morph one shape into another across keyframes
- animate a value inside a JS object and update the UI

## Example prompts
- build a timeline: the title slides down, the subtitle starts 500ms before it ends, then the button scales in
- reveal the cards as a 14 by 5 grid stagger from the center
- animate the path so the line draws itself with strokeDashoffset

# Anime.js

Lightweight JavaScript animation library with powerful timeline and stagger capabilities for web animations.

## Overview

Anime.js (pronounced "Anime JS") is a versatile animation engine that works with DOM elements, CSS properties, SVG attributes, and JavaScript objects. Unlike React-specific libraries, Anime.js works with vanilla JavaScript and any framework.

**When to use this skill:**
- Timeline-based animation sequences with precise choreography
- Staggered animations across multiple elements
- SVG path morphing and drawing animations
- Keyframe animations with percentage-based timing
- Framework-agnostic animation (works with React, Vue, vanilla JS)
- Complex easing functions (spring, steps, cubic-bezier)

**Core features:**
- Timeline sequencing with relative positioning
- Powerful stagger utilities (grid, from center, easing)
- SVG morphing and path animations
- Built-in spring physics easing
- Keyframe support with flexible timing
- Small bundle size (~9KB gzipped)

## Core Concepts

### Basic Animation

The `anime()` function creates animations:

```javascript
import anime from 'animejs'
anime({
  targets: '.element',
  translateX: 250,
  rotate: '1turn',
  duration: 800,
  easing: 'easeInOutQuad'
})
```

### Targets

Multiple ways to specify animation targets:

```javascript
// CSS selector
anime({ targets: '.box' })
// DOM elements
anime({ targets: document.querySelectorAll('.box') })
// Array of elements
anime({ targets: [el1, el2, el3] })
// JavaScript object
const obj = { x: 0 }
anime({ targets: obj, x: 100 })
```

### Animatable Properties

**CSS Properties:**
```javascript
anime({
  targets: '.element',
  translateX: 250,
  scale: 2,
  opacity: 0.5,
  backgroundColor: '#FFF'
})
```

**CSS Transforms (Individual):**
```javascript
anime({
  targets: '.element',
  translateX: 250,   // Individual transform
  rotate: '1turn',   // Not 'transform: rotate()'
  scale: 2
})
```

**SVG Attributes:**
```javascript
anime({
  targets: 'path',
  d: 'M10 80 Q 77.5 10, 145 80', // Path morphing
  fill: '#FF0000',
  strokeDashoffset: [anime.setDashoffset, 0] // Line drawing
})
```

**JavaScript Objects:**
```javascript
const obj = { value: 0 }
anime({
  targets: obj,
  value: 100,
  round: 1,
