## What it does

The skill equips coding assistants with patterns for two React animation collections: Magic UI and React Bits. Magic UI brings over 150 TypeScript components built with Tailwind CSS and Framer Motion, following shadcn/ui conventions. React Bits provides over 90 lightweight components for text reveals and dynamic backgrounds with minimal dependencies.

Inside are component blueprints and exact installation recipes. For Magic UI items, the assistant guides CLI installs with `npx shadcn@latest add` or manual setup in `components/ui/`. For WebGL-based visual effects like Particles or Plasma from React Bits, it flags the need for the `ogl` library alongside standard React packages.

Magic UI elements will fail immediately without Tailwind CSS and the standard `cn()` utility in `@/lib/utils`. Projects not built around shadcn conventions will need manual tweaks in `globals.css` to register keyframe animations.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animated-component-libraries -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/animated-component-libraries/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/animated-component-libraries/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animated-component-libraries -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/animated-component-libraries/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animated-component-libraries -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/animated-component-libraries/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install freshtechbro/claudedesignskills animated-component-libraries
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/animated-component-libraries/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animated-component-libraries -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --path plugins/bundles/animation-components/skills/animated-component-libraries
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/animated-component-libraries/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill animated-component-libraries -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- add animated grid patterns to a landing page hero section
- implement word-by-word text reveal animations using BlurText
- embed ShimmerButton and BorderBeam components into existing cards
- integrate Magic UI elements through shadcn CLI without building custom animations

## Example prompts
- Add an AnimatedGridPattern background to our landing page hero section
- Install ShimmerButton from Magic UI into components/ui using shadcn conventions
- Create a BlurText title reveal from React Bits that animates word by word

# Animated Component Libraries

## Overview

This skill provides expertise in pre-built animated React component libraries, specifically Magic UI and React Bits. These libraries offer production-ready, animated components that significantly accelerate development of modern, interactive web applications.

**Magic UI** provides 150+ TypeScript components built on Tailwind CSS and Framer Motion, designed for seamless integration with shadcn/ui. Components are copy-paste ready and highly customizable.

**React Bits** offers 90+ animated React components with minimal dependencies, focusing on visual effects, backgrounds, and micro-interactions. Components emphasize performance and ease of customization.

Both libraries follow modern React patterns, support TypeScript, and integrate with popular design systems.

## Core Concepts

### Magic UI Architecture

Magic UI components are built on three foundational technologies:

1. **Tailwind CSS**: Utility-first styling with full customization via `tailwind.config.js`
2. **Framer Motion**: Physics-based animations and gesture recognition
3. **shadcn/ui Integration**: Follows shadcn conventions for CLI installation and component structure

**Installation Methods**:

```bash
# Via shadcn CLI (recommended)
npx shadcn@latest add https://magicui.design/r/animated-beam
# Manual installation
# 1. Copy component code to components/ui/
# 2. Install motion: npm install motion
# 3. Add required CSS animations to globals.css
# 4. Ensure cn() utility exists in lib/utils.ts
```

**Component Structure**:

```typescript
// All Magic UI components follow this pattern:
import { cn } from "@/lib/utils"
import { motion } from "motion/react"
````
