## What it does

This skill maps threat actor TTPs and observed IOCs to MITRE ATT&CK techniques, then turns the results into structured threat intelligence reporting. It covers the Enterprise, Mobile, and ICS matrices and supports reviews of defensive detection coverage.

The workflow uses Python examples with `mitreattack-python`, `attackcti`, and `stix2`. It queries ATT&CK data through the MITRE TAXII service, builds a technique map, and generates a JSON layer for ATT&CK Navigator with scores, colors, comments, and group metadata. The sample output is saved as `apt29_navigator_layer.json`.

You need Python 3.9+, ATT&CK Navigator, and threat actor data from intelligence reports or MISP/OpenCTI. The workflow also assumes familiarity with ATT&CK tactics, techniques, sub-techniques, and STIX 2.1 Attack Pattern objects, so check those prerequisites before installing.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --skill analyzing-threat-actor-ttps-with-mitre-attack -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --skill analyzing-threat-actor-ttps-with-mitre-attack -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/analyzing-threat-actor-ttps-with-mitre-attack/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/analyzing-threat-actor-ttps-with-mitre-attack/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills analyzing-threat-actor-ttps-with-mitre-attack
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

gemini skills install https://github.com/mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --path skills/analyzing-threat-actor-ttps-with-mitre-attack
```
### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/analyzing-threat-actor-ttps-with-mitre-attack/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
## When to use it
- map observed IOCs to MITRE ATT&CK techniques
- break threat actor behavior into tactics and techniques
- generate an ATT&CK Navigator JSON layer
- identify gaps in detection coverage
- produce a structured TTP threat report
## Example prompts
- Map the IOCs in this APT29 report to MITRE ATT&CK techniques and explain the evidence for each match.
- Generate an ATT&CK Navigator layer for the mapped techniques and save it as `apt29_navigator_layer.json`.
- Review our detection coverage against these TTPs and identify gaps for threat hunting.
# Analyzing Threat Actor TTPs with MITRE ATT&CK
## Overview
MITRE ATT&CK is a globally-accessible knowledge base of adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) based on real-world observations. This skill covers systematically mapping threat actor behavior to the ATT&CK framework, building technique coverage heatmaps using the ATT&CK Navigator, identifying detection gaps, and producing actionable intelligence reports that link observed IOCs to specific adversary techniques across the Enterprise, Mobile, and ICS matrices.
## When to Use
- When investigating security incidents that require analyzing threat actor ttps with mitre attack
- When building detection rules or threat hunting queries for this domain
- When SOC analysts need structured procedures for this analysis type
- When validating security monitoring coverage for related attack techniques
## Prerequisites
- Python 3.9+ with `mitreattack-python`, `attackcti`, `stix2` libraries
- MITRE ATT&CK Navigator (web-based or local deployment)
- Understanding of ATT&CK matrix structure: Tactics, Techniques, Sub-techniques
