## What it does

The skill guides threat analysts in monitoring Tor data leak sites (DLS) used by double-extortion groups. It organizes victim posts, identifies targeted sectors, and tracks active families like Qilin, Akira, and LockBit. In H1 2025, 96 distinct ransomware groups were active, listing roughly 535 victims every month.

The workflow uses Python scripts that pull structured feeds from Ransomwatch. It parses publication timestamps and aggregates frequencies using `pandas` and `Counter`. That setup highlights new victims from the last 30 days and tracks operational tempo over time.

Direct production access to Tor sites is dangerous. Because of that risk, collection must stay inside isolated research VMs or rely on aggregators like RansomLook and DarkFeed. You need Python 3.9+ alongside `requests`, `beautifulsoup4`, `pandas`, and `matplotlib`.

## When to use it
- ingest ransomware victim listings from public Ransomwatch feeds
- track monthly activity across groups like Qilin, Akira, and LockBit
- generate sector-specific risk assessments for double-extortion threats
- structure threat hunting and incident triage for SOC teams

## Example prompts
- "Fetch ransomware victim posts from the last 30 days using Ransomwatch data"
- "Analyze monthly listing trends for the Akira ransomware group"

# Analyzing Ransomware Leak Site Intelligence

## Overview

Ransomware groups operating under double-extortion models maintain data leak sites (DLS) on Tor hidden services where they post victim names, stolen data samples, and countdown timers to pressure payment. In H1 2025, 96 unique ransomware groups were active, listing approximately 535 victims per month. Monitoring these sites provides intelligence on active threat groups, targeted sectors, geographic patterns, and emerging ransomware families. This skill covers safely collecting DLS intelligence, extracting structured data, tracking group activity trends, and producing sector-specific risk assessments.

## When to Use

- When investigating security incidents that require analyzing ransomware leak site intelligence
- When building detection rules or threat hunting queries for this domain
- When SOC analysts need structured procedures for this analysis type
- When validating security monitoring coverage for related attack techniques
