## What it does

This skill queries ATT&CK group and technique data with `attackcti`, then builds technique maps with tactics, platforms, and data sources. It can compare several APT groups, create MITRE ATT&CK Navigator layers, and overlay them against detection coverage.

The included Python workflow covers group lookup, Navigator layer JSON generation, and multi-group technique comparison. It requires Python 3.9+ with `attackcti`, `mitreattack-python`, `stix2`, and `requests`, plus MITRE ATT&CK Navigator or a local deployment. Threat-intelligence reports or MISP/OpenCTI access are also listed as prerequisites. Check the Python environment and data source first.

Layers can hold technique scores, colors, comments, and metadata for the Enterprise ATT&CK matrix. The output supports detection-gap analysis, threat hunting, and threat-intelligence reporting.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --skill analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --skill analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --skill analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --skill analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --path skills/analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills --skill analyzing-apt-group-with-mitre-navigator -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- look up ATT&CK techniques used by an APT group
- generate a JSON layer for MITRE ATT&CK Navigator
- compare TTPs across several groups
- map group techniques against detection coverage
- prepare data for a threat-intelligence report

## Example prompts
- Analyze APT29 with ATT&CK and save the technique map as `apt29_layer.json`.
- Compare APT29, APT28, and Lazarus Group, then identify their shared techniques.
- Build a MITRE ATT&CK Navigator layer for this group with tactics, platforms, and comments.

# Analyzing APT Group with MITRE ATT&CK Navigator

## Overview

MITRE ATT&CK Navigator is a web-based tool for annotating and exploring ATT&CK matrices, enabling analysts to visualize threat actor technique coverage, compare multiple APT groups, identify detection gaps, and build threat-informed defense strategies. This skill covers querying ATT&CK data programmatically, mapping APT group TTPs to Navigator layers, creating multi-layer overlays for gap analysis, and generating actionable intelligence reports for detection engineering teams.

## When to Use

- When investigating security incidents that require analyzing apt group with mitre navigator
- When building detection rules or threat hunting queries for this domain
- When SOC analysts need structured procedures for this analysis type
- When validating security monitoring coverage for related attack techniques

## Prerequisites

- Python 3.9+ with `attackcti`, `mitreattack-python`, `stix2`, `requests` libraries
- ATT&CK Navigator (https://mitre-attack.github.io/attack-navigator/) or local deployment
- Understanding of ATT&CK Enterprise matrix: 14 Tactics, 200+ Techniques, Sub-techniques
- Access to threat intelligence reports or MISP/OpenCTI for threat actor data
- Familiarity with STIX 2.1 Intrusion Set and Attack Pattern objects
