# amazon-white-background

Turns a product photo into an Amazon main image with a pure white background and the product filling at least 85% of the frame, then checks the file with a script.

## What it does

The skill starts by writing an identity lock for the product: shape, colour, logo spelling, included parts. That block goes into every prompt unchanged, so a creative instruction cannot quietly redraw the item. Generation runs through GPT Image 2.5, either with the agent's own image tool or with `scripts/generate.py` and a `GPTIMAGE_API_KEY`.

A check comes before delivery. `scripts/check_main_image.py` measures how much of the border band is pure white, how much of the background is exactly #FFFFFF, the product's share of the frame and the longest side in pixels. Grey or off-white background? Run the same script with `--fix` to snap near-white pixels to #FFFFFF and re-crop to 87%. The check needs `pillow` and `numpy` installed.

Generation depends on an outside image API. Without a key or a built-in image tool you are left with the prompt text and a browser link. Amazon wants the longest side at 1000 px or more, 1600–2000 px recommended, and nothing printed over the product: no badges, borders or watermarks.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill amazon-white-background -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/amazon-white-background/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/amazon-white-background/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill amazon-white-background -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/amazon-white-background/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill amazon-white-background -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/amazon-white-background/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills amazon-white-background
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/amazon-white-background/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill amazon-white-background -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --path skills/amazon-white-background
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/amazon-white-background/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills --skill amazon-white-background -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/amazon-white-background/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- strip the background from a supplier photo down to #FFFFFF
- fit the product into 85% of the frame without clipping
- keep the logo and label text intact through generation
- verify a finished image against Amazon main-image rules
- produce a hero image for a Walmart or eBay listing

## Example prompts
- Make an Amazon white-background main image from `product.jpg`, the item is a mug with a logo
- Run the check script on `out/amazon-white-background.png` and fix the background if it is not pure white
- Generate a version with packaging: box behind and to the right, both fully visible

# Amazon White-Background Main Image · 亚马逊白底主图

Turns a phone snapshot or supplier photo into a marketplace main image that passes Amazon's main-image rules, and checks the result automatically.

> Part of [ecommerce-image-skills](https://github.com/xianyu110/ecommerce-image-skills). Works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and any agent that loads `SKILL.md`. Default model: GPT Image 2.5 **Sunburst**.

## Step 1 · Product identity lock (always first)

Before writing any prompt, study every reference photo and write a short **identity lock** for the product. Paste it verbatim into **every** prompt this skill produces, and never let a creative instruction override it.

```text
PRODUCT IDENTITY LOCK (do not change):
- Shape & proportions: <e.g. tall cylinder, rounded shoulders, 26 cm high, 7.5 cm wide>
- Colour & finish: <e.g. matte sage green #8FA58C body, natural bamboo lid>
- Logo & printed text: <exact spelling, font feel, position, colour — e.g. white "AURA" wordmark centred on upper body>
- Parts & details: <lid, loop, buttons, ports, seams, labels, accessories that are included>
- Must NOT appear: <accessories not in the box, extra logos, invented claims>
```

Rules:
- Only use facts visible in the photos or confirmed by the user. If something is unknown (size, capacity, material), ask or leave it out — never invent specs or certifications.
- If the user gave no photo, ask for one (front view at minimum). Text-only generation is allowed but say the result is a concept, not the real product.

## Step 2 · Pick the model

| Use **Flare** (`gpt-image-2.5-flare`, default) | Switch to **Sunburst** (`gpt-image-2.5-sunburst`) |
|---|---|
| New scenes, backgrounds, layouts, many quick variations | The product's logo / label / small text must survive exactly |
| Text-to-image concepts | Local edits: swap background, recolour, remove objects, keep everything else |
