## What it does

The skill provides patterns and production-ready snippets for technical site architecture. It includes standard `robots.txt` directives alongside explicit access rules for AI assistants like GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot. It also outlines scraper blocking rules and dynamic `robots.ts` setups for Next.js.

For content discovery, the instructions supply XML sitemap templates, static and dynamic Next.js `sitemap.ts` structures, and sitemap index files for larger domains. It also details essential head metadata, canonical URLs, and Open Graph tags.

Because `user-invocable` is set to `false`, you do not trigger this skill via a slash command. Your agent pulls in these patterns automatically when modifying files in `public/`, `robots.txt`, sitemaps, or HTML documents.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill site-architecture -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/site-architecture/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/site-architecture/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill site-architecture -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/site-architecture/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill site-architecture -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/site-architecture/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alinaqi/maggy site-architecture
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/site-architecture/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill site-architecture -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy --path skills/site-architecture
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/site-architecture/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill site-architecture -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy/tree/HEAD/skills/site-architecture/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- configure crawler access for GPTBot and ClaudeBot in robots.txt
- generate dynamic XML sitemaps in Next.js
- add canonical tags and Open Graph metadata to HTML
- block SEO scrapers from private application paths

## Example prompts
- Create a robots.txt allowing ClaudeBot and GPTBot while blocking scrapers
- Set up a dynamic sitemap.ts for my Next.js blog posts
- Add essential meta tags and Open Graph tags to the HTML head

# Site Architecture Skill

For technical website structure that enables discovery by search engines AND AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot).

---

## Philosophy

**Content is king. Architecture is the kingdom.**

Great content buried in poor architecture won't be discovered. This skill covers the technical foundation that makes your content findable by:
- Google, Bing (traditional search)
- GPTBot (ChatGPT), ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot (AI assistants)
- Social platforms (Open Graph, Twitter Cards)

---

## robots.txt

### Basic Template

```txt
# robots.txt
# Allow all crawlers by default
User-agent: *
Allow: /
Disallow: /api/
Disallow: /admin/
Disallow: /private/
Disallow: /_next/
Disallow: /cdn-cgi/
# Sitemap location
Sitemap: https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml
# Crawl delay (optional - be careful, not all bots respect this)
# Crawl-delay: 1
```

### AI Bot Configuration

```txt
# robots.txt with AI bot rules
# === SEARCH ENGINES ===
User-agent: Googlebot
Allow: /
User-agent: Bingbot
Allow: /
# === AI ASSISTANTS (Allow for discovery) ===
User-agent: GPTBot
# === BLOCK AI TRAINING (Optional - block training, allow chat) ===
# Uncomment these if you want to be cited but not used for training
# User-agent: CCBot
# Disallow: /
# User-agent: GPTBot
# Disallow: /  # Blocks both chat and training
# === BLOCK SCRAPERS ===
User-agent: AhrefsBot
Disallow: /
User-agent: SemrushBot
Disallow: /
User-agent: MJ12bot
Disallow: /
# === DEFAULT ===
User-agent: *
Disallow: /api/
Disallow: /admin/
Disallow: /auth/
Disallow: /private/
Disallow: /*.json$
Disallow: /*?*
Sitemap: https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml
```

### Next.js robots.txt

```typescript
// app/robots.ts
import { MetadataRoute } from 'next';
export default function robots(): MetadataRoute.Robots {
  const baseUrl = process.env.NEXT_PUBLIC_URL || 'https://yoursite.com';
  return {
    rules: [
      {
        userAgent: '*',
        allow: '/',
        disallow: ['/api/', '/admin/', '/private/', '/_next/'],
      },
      {
        userAgent: 'GPTBot',
        allow: '/',
      },
      {
        userAgent: 'ClaudeBot',
        allow: '/',
      },
      {
        userAgent: 'PerplexityBot',
        allow: '/',
      },
    ],
    sitemap: `${baseUrl}/sitemap.xml`,
  };
}
```

---

## Sitemap

### XML Sitemap Template

```xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9"
        xmlns:news="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-news/0.9"
