## What it does

The skill handles pull request reviews via Alan MCP GitHub operations prefixed with `mcp__alan__github_`. It inspects PR metadata, unified diffs, altered files, CI run states, and existing discussion threads. The review focuses strictly on bugs introduced by the PR itself, evaluating security loopholes, incorrect logic, race conditions, and unhandled errors.

Once the inspection finishes, the skill posts a review through `mcp__alan__github_create_pr_review`. The submission includes a categorized summary table and line-by-line comments with prompt templates designed for automated remediation. It enforces an 80% confidence threshold, filtering out formatting debates, linter warnings, and pre-existing codebase issues.

If the `mcp__alan__github_*` tool suite is missing from the environment, the skill aborts immediately. Falling back to the `gh` command-line utility or raw `curl` network calls is explicitly prohibited.

## Requirements
- Works with: GitHub

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tryalan-ai/alan-skills --skill alan-review-pr -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/alan-review-pr/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/alan-review-pr/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tryalan-ai/alan-skills --skill alan-review-pr -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/alan-review-pr/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tryalan-ai/alan-skills --skill alan-review-pr -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/alan-review-pr/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install tryalan-ai/alan-skills alan-review-pr
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/alan-review-pr/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tryalan-ai/alan-skills --skill alan-review-pr -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/tryalan-ai/alan-skills --path skills/alan-review-pr
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/alan-review-pr/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tryalan-ai/alan-skills --skill alan-review-pr -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/tryalan-ai/alan-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/alan-review-pr/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Audit pull request diffs for logic bugs and security flaws
- Submit structured PR reviews with inline comments via GitHub API
- Generate actionable fix prompts for agent-driven refactoring
- Inspect CI check results before approving code changes

## Example prompts
- Review PR #42 in the current repository
- Run a code review on `supatest-ai/alan#42` and submit findings
- Check pull request 42 and post inline review comments

## MANDATORY: Use Alan MCP Tools

The Alan MCP server provides GitHub tools that are ALREADY in your tool list.
They work exactly like Read, Bash, Edit — you call them as tool invocations.
They are named with the prefix `mcp__alan__github_`.

**Authentication is handled automatically by the MCP server.** You do NOT need
GitHub tokens, gh CLI auth, SSH keys, .netrc files, environment variables, or
any credentials. The tools work immediately with zero setup.

### NEVER do any of the following for GitHub API access:
- `curl` or `wget` to api.github.com
- `gh` CLI commands (gh pr, gh api, etc.)
- `env | grep` or scanning for tokens/secrets
- `cat ~/.netrc`, `git credential`, or `ssh -T git@github.com`
- Any attempt to find, construct, or configure GitHub authentication
- Installing packages or CLIs for GitHub access

If an MCP tool call fails, report the error to the user. Do NOT fall back to
CLI alternatives.

### Verify tools are available

Before starting, confirm you can see `mcp__alan__github_*` tools in your
available tools. If they are NOT available, STOP and tell the user:
"The GitHub MCP tools are not available. Please check the sandbox MCP configuration."

### Tool parameters

All GitHub PR tools require these parameters:
- `owner` (string): GitHub org or username, e.g. "supatest-ai"
- `repo` (string): Repository name, e.g. "alan"
- `prNumber` (integer): PR number, e.g. 42

Example tool call:
```
Tool: mcp__alan__github_get_pull_request
Parameters: { "owner": "supatest-ai", "repo": "alan", "prNumber": 42 }
```

### Resolving owner/repo

If the user only provides a PR number, run `git remote get-url origin` to get
the remote URL, then parse owner and repo from it. This is the ONLY git CLI
command you should run for GitHub operations. Everything else uses MCP tools.

### Available GitHub MCP tools
