## What it does

The skill handles everything before the render: it chooses a voice from the library, through Voice Design or a consented clone, writes the script for the ear — spoken cadence, contractions, short sentences — and directs the delivery with the model, Audio Tags and settings. ElevenLabs generates the audio, a human mixes and reviews it, and WoopSocial schedules the publish. It sits below the ai-video router, sibling to veo-3 and heygen: those produce scenes and avatars, this one produces sound.

Model choice follows the job. Eleven v3 for expressive reads with Audio Tags, Multilingual v2 for polished long-form finals, Flash or Turbo for drafts at roughly half the credits. The skill advises drafting on Flash and rendering finals on v3 or Multilingual v2. Stability sits around 0.3–0.5 for expressive delivery and 0.7–1.0 for a consistent one, Similarity around 0.75–0.85.

One hard gate: consented voices only. Your own clone, a consented person, a library or designed voice, licensed talent. Cloning a real person without documented consent is off the table, and commercial rights need a paid plan — the free tier attributes ElevenLabs and is not meant for monetized content. Social plays on mute, so the voiceover supports captions instead of carrying the video alone.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-voiceover -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ai-voiceover/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ai-voiceover/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-voiceover -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ai-voiceover/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-voiceover -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ai-voiceover/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills ai-voiceover
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ai-voiceover/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-voiceover -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/ai-voiceover
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ai-voiceover/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-voiceover -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/ai-voiceover/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- match a voice to the brand and the platform
- rewrite eye-written copy into a script for the ear
- pick the ElevenLabs model for a draft or a final
- set Stability and Similarity for the delivery you want
- route the chain from audio generation to publishing

## Example prompts
- I need a voiceover for a Reel, pick a voice and model
- rewrite this copy for the ear and direct the read
- draft the voiceover on Flash, render the final on Multilingual v2

# ai-voiceover

The **audio** producer of the video cluster — the counterpart to **veo-3** (scenes) and **heygen**
(avatars) under the **ai-video** router. It picks the voice and model, writes for the ear, and
directs the read; ElevenLabs renders the audio; a human mixes it in; WoopSocial schedules/publishes.

## The POV: 80% script + direction, 20% tool
Most AI VO sounds robotic because people feed it **eye-written copy** and accept the **default
read**. A great voiceover is mostly the script-for-the-ear and the direction. Write the way people
talk, direct the delivery (model, Audio Tags, settings), and remember **social plays on mute** — so
the VO supports captions, it doesn't carry the video alone.

## Read these first
1. **brand-profile** — audience, platform, non-negotiables.
2. **voice-builder** — the brand's **written** voice. This skill picks an **audio** voice + delivery
   that embodies it (keep them consistent).

## The framework: VOICE
(Depth: `references/the-voice-framework.md`.)
- **V — Voice match:** library / Voice Design / consented clone; fit brand + platform.
- **O — Own the script for the ear:** spoken cadence, contractions, short sentences; read it aloud.
- **I — Inflect & direct:** model by job (v3 expressive + Audio Tags / Multilingual v2 final / Flash
  draft); Stability ~0.3–0.5 expressive vs ~0.7–1.0 consistent; Similarity ~0.75–0.85; pronunciation.
- **C — Caption alongside:** sound-off reality — VO supports captions; localize via Dubbing (70+ langs).
- **E — Ethics:** consent + disclosure (below).

## Pick the model (verify-quarterly)
**Eleven v3** (expressive, Audio Tags) or **Multilingual v2** (polished long-form) for finals;
**Flash/Turbo** for drafts/real-time at ~half the credits. Draft on Flash, render finals on
