## What it does

The skill generates no footage itself. It acts as an orchestrator: it inspects the request, writes a vendor-neutral spec using the BRIEF framework, and forwards the job to a dedicated sub-skill. Generative scenes route to `veo-3` or `kling`, digital avatars go to `heygen` or `synthesia`, voiceovers point to `ai-voiceover`, and turning long videos into Shorts moves to `captions-and-clipping`.

The framework treats video models as interchangeable rentals. Discontinued tools are barred from recommendations entirely. If a project requires a real founder or a tangible product, the skill points to `talking-head-and-piece-to-camera` to shoot actual footage instead of generating synthetic scenes.

Human editing remains necessary because AI generators only produce raw cutaways. Assembling the timeline falls on the creator, while publishing routes through `scheduling-and-queue` into WoopSocial with mandatory platform disclosures.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-video -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ai-video/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ai-video/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-video -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ai-video/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-video -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ai-video/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills ai-video
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ai-video/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-video -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/ai-video
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ai-video/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill ai-video -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/ai-video/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- select the right AI tool for generative scenes, avatars, or narration
- draft a vendor-neutral brief detailing lighting, camera movement, and aspect ratio
- route long-form video repurposing to clipping tools
- identify when to film real footage instead of generating synthetic video

## Example prompts
- Which AI tool should I use to generate B-roll for a product teaser, and can you write the brief?
- Create a brief for a faceless talking-head tutorial and route it to heygen
- Turn this webinar recording into short vertical clips with captions

  Routes the job to the right tool by fit and writes a portable brief; the tool generates,

# ai-video

The **router + brief** for AI video — the counterpart to image-prompt, sitting above the video
tool mini-skills. It generates nothing itself: it names the job, writes a portable brief, and
points to the right tool.

## The POV: own the job, rent the tool
In AI video the **tools die and the leaderboard churns weekly** — Sora launched to hype and was
discontinued within a year; Runway led the benchmark at launch and fell out of the top 10 months
later. So never marry a vendor. Define the **job** in portable terms, route to whatever wins this
quarter, and keep the brief tool-agnostic so a dead vendor is a one-day swap. **There is no single
best AI video tool — only a best tool per job.**

## Read these first
1. **brand-profile** — look, palette, mood, non-negotiables.
2. **voice-builder** — tone, so any scripted/voiced video sounds like the brand.

## The framework: BRIEF
(Depth: `references/the-brief-framework.md`.)
- **B — Brief the job, not the tool:** a portable spec (subject, action, setting, light/mood,
  camera, aspect, duration, audio plan, brand fit). No vendor name in the brief.
- **R — Route by fit:** match the job to the tool category, then the tool by real strength.
- **I — Iterate cheaply:** concept-test on fast/cheap tools, finalize on quality tools, judge on
  your own prompts not demos.
- **E — Edit & assemble:** clips are raw material; the human stitches/edits; cutaways, not whole videos.
- **F — Finalize & disclose:** AI disclosure per platform; publish via scheduling-and-queue → WoopSocial.

## Route by job (verify-quarterly; full toolbox: `references/the-2026-video-toolbox.md`)
- **Generative B-roll / scenes** → Veo 3.1 (all-round + native dialogue) → **veo-3**; Kling 3.0
  (native 4K / multi-shot / motion-transfer) → **kling**; Luma Ray3/Ray3.14 (cinematic HDR/mood,
  silent — sound in post) → **luma**; Runway Gen-4.5 (control/ads) → **runway**;
  Hailuo (fast/cheap — *rights caution, active lawsuit*).
