## What it does

The skill asks three questions in order: can a wrong output be quietly fixed, who sees it, and how often does it happen. The answers place the decision in a zone. Reversibility comes first because it dominates the rest.

Zone 1 is AI-Primary: reversible, high-volume, internal. The agent acts, you keep a log and audit a sample. Zone 2 is Collaborative: the output reaches an outside audience, so the agent drafts and a human approves before anything ships. Zone 3 is Human-Primary: irreversible or legally exposed work, where the agent researches and ranks options and a named person decides.

The useful part is governing the boundary instead of the whole workflow. A newsletter the agent writes and schedules is Zone 1 drafting plus Zone 2 sending. Let the draft run and gate the send. Push the entire workflow up to its highest zone and you lose most of the adoption you were after. The author advises starting with a check: a sprawling Zone 3 usually means decisions landed there out of fear rather than analysis.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add alirezarezvani/claude-skills
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install marketing-skills@claude-code-skills
```
This installs the whole marketing-skills plugin with all its skills

2. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alirezarezvani/claude-skills --skill ai-decision-authority -a claude-code
```

3. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ai-decision-authority/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ai-decision-authority/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ai-decision-authority/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ai-decision-authority/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alirezarezvani/claude-skills ai-decision-authority
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ai-decision-authority/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alirezarezvani/claude-skills --path marketing-skill/skills/ai-decision-authority
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ai-decision-authority/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/alirezarezvani/claude-skills/tree/HEAD/marketing-skill/skills/ai-decision-authority/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- decide which AI outputs skip human review
- split one workflow and gate only the boundary
- audit a list of workflows for safe autonomy
- explain why AI adoption stalls under review rules
- assign ownership for an irreversible decision

## Example prompts
- Sort this into zones: the agent writes the newsletter and schedules it
- Should a human review this output?
- Audit these workflows for safe autonomy

# AI Decision Authority

## Overview

Decide which AI outputs a human must approve, and which an agent can own outright.

Most AI governance in marketing fails in one of two directions. Review everything, and adoption collapses because using the tool is slower than doing the work by hand. Review nothing, and compliance exceptions accumulate quietly until one does not stay quiet, at which point legal arrives and you get the first failure anyway.

Both failures come from applying one rule to every decision. Generating forty subject lines for a test is not the same decision as approving a regulatory disclosure. This skill sorts them by stakes rather than by seniority, so governance sits where the consequences are.

Use it for a single decision, or to audit thirty workflows at once.

## Workflow

Ask three questions in this order. Order matters, because reversibility dominates.

**1. Can it be corrected if it is wrong?**
If this output is wrong, can it be quietly fixed, or has the damage already left the building? A content variant can be swapped in an hour. A regulatory filing cannot.

**2. Who sees it, and what follows?**
Internal only, or does it cross a legal, executive, or external boundary? Exposure is what pulls a decision up out of Zone 1.

**3. How often does it happen?**
A hundred times a week, or once a quarter? High-frequency standardised decisions are where a per-output human gate kills adoption. Low-frequency, high-consequence decisions absorb human ownership without becoming a bottleneck.

Then assign a zone and apply its rule.

### Zone 1: AI-Primary

Reversible, high-volume, internal only. Correctable at negligible cost.

Examples: first-pass copy drafts, internal research summaries, data categorisation, competitive analysis, test variants, segmentation queries, performance summaries.

**Rule:** the agent acts. Keep a log. Audit a periodic sample, never every output. No per-output gate.

Expect roughly 70% of decision volume here. If your Zone 1 is small, you have miscategorised and adoption will suffer.

### Zone 2: Collaborative

Reaches an external audience. Wrong output carries reputational or compliance cost. Human review adds real judgment rather than a rubber stamp.

Examples: customer-facing messaging, press releases, partner commitments, pricing communications, campaign briefs, external first drafts.
