# agile-workflow

Walks an agent through the agile task cycle step by step: sync, pick a task, implement, review, merge. Useful when you want a guided process instead of one-off commands.

## What it does

The skill chains commands together and pauses at checkpoints where a human decides. It figures out the current state on its own: whether a worktree exists, whether a `task/*` branch is active, whether anything is uncommitted. From those signals the agent knows to keep implementing, run reviews, or prepare a merge.

Three flows live inside. The task cycle runs `sync` and `next`, then `implement`, `review-code`, `review-tests`, and finishes with `merge-prep` and `merge-complete`. The daily flow covers a morning sync and backlog grooming, then an evening checklist and discovery pass. The sprint flow handles goal planning at the start and a retrospective with audit at the end. Run it with no arguments and it detects the phase; `--dry-run` previews the plan without executing.

Check your setup first: you need a git repository with worktree support and a backlog structure under `context-network/backlog/` with status files at `by-status/*.md`. Without that layout the skill has nothing to work from. There is no PR integration here, just git. Separate skills in the same collection cover Gitea and GitHub.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-workflow -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/agile-workflow/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/agile-workflow/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-workflow -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/agile-workflow/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-workflow -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/agile-workflow/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install jwynia/agent-skills agile-workflow
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/agile-workflow/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-workflow -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/jwynia/agent-skills --path skills/tech/development/workflow/agile-workflow
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/agile-workflow/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-workflow -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/jwynia/agent-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/tech/development/workflow/agile-workflow/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- carry a task from selection to merge without checking each step by hand
- resume interrupted work and see where you left off
- reconcile the backlog with the actual repository state
- close a sprint with a retrospective and audit
- split review findings into quick fixes and follow-up tasks

## Example prompts
- run the workflow
- what's next in the backlog?
- start my day

# Agile Workflow Orchestrator

A skill that guides agents through structured agile development workflows by intelligently invoking commands in sequence. Uses checkpoint-based flow control to auto-progress between steps while pausing at key decision points.

**Note:** This is a platform-agnostic, git-only workflow. For PR-based workflows with specific platforms, use:
- `gitea-workflow` for Gitea repositories
- `github-agile` for GitHub repositories

## When to Use This Skill

Use this skill when:
- Starting work for the day ("run morning standup", "start my day")
- Working on a task ("implement next task", "continue working")
- Completing a development cycle ("finish this task", "prepare PR")
- Running sprint ceremonies ("start sprint", "end sprint", "retrospective")
- Resuming interrupted work ("what's next", "where was I")

Do NOT use this skill when:
- Running a single specific command (use that command directly)
- Just checking status (use `/status` directly)
- Only doing code review without full cycle (use `/review-code` directly)
- Researching or planning without implementation

## Prerequisites

Before using this skill:
- **Git repository** initialized with worktree support
- **Context network** with backlog structure at `context-network/backlog/`
- Task status files at `context-network/backlog/by-status/*.md`

## Workflow Types Overview
