# agile-coordinator

Hands ready backlog tasks to worker agents, tracks progress, merges branches and verifies the build. Useful when the queue is long and doing it by hand drags.

## What it does

The skill is an orchestrator, not an implementer. It reads the backlog, picks tasks marked ready, sorts them by priority and assigns them to workers that run the `agile-workflow` skill. From there it monitors progress, coordinates merges and checks the result.

You invoke it as `/agile-coordinator`. With no arguments it discovers ready tasks itself; you can also name them: `/agile-coordinator TASK-001 TASK-002`. Workers run one at a time by default, `--parallel` switches to concurrent execution, `--max-workers N` caps how many run at once, and `--dry-run` prints the plan without executing. Each worker writes progress to `.coordinator/workers/{worker-id}/progress.json` and never merges its own branch — it only signals ready-to-merge.

It needs git, a backlog structure in the context network and Claude's Task tool. Merges happen sequentially with `git merge --squash`, and on a conflict the coordinator stops and alerts you. That is a reason to keep tasks small and off each other's files. After merging it runs `npm run build` and `npm test`, then updates task statuses in the backlog files and `context/status.md` — session state alone does not survive.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-coordinator -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/agile-coordinator/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/agile-coordinator/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-coordinator -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/agile-coordinator/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-coordinator -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/agile-coordinator/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install jwynia/agent-skills agile-coordinator
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/agile-coordinator/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-coordinator -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/jwynia/agent-skills --path skills/tech/development/workflow/agile-coordinator
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/agile-coordinator/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add jwynia/agent-skills --skill agile-coordinator -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- assign ready backlog tasks to several workers
- run a batch of tasks autonomously instead of one by one
- merge branches in sequence without hitting conflicts
- check build and tests after every merge
- update task statuses and epic progress in the backlog

## Example prompts
- /agile-coordinator
- /agile-coordinator TASK-001 TASK-002
- /agile-coordinator --parallel --max-workers 3

# Agile Coordinator

Orchestrates multiple worker agents to implement groomed tasks from the backlog, handling task assignment, progress monitoring, merge coordination, and verification.

## Core Principle

**Coordinate, don't implement.** The coordinator assigns tasks to workers, monitors their progress, coordinates merges, and verifies results. Workers execute the actual implementation via the `agile-workflow` skill.

## Quick Reference

### When to Use
- Multiple ready tasks in the backlog need implementation
- You want autonomous batch execution of development work
- You need coordinated merges to avoid conflicts
- You want progress tracking across multiple tasks

### Invocation

```bash
/agile-coordinator                    # Auto-discover and execute ready tasks
/agile-coordinator TASK-001 TASK-002  # Execute specific tasks
/agile-coordinator --dry-run          # Preview execution plan only
/agile-coordinator --parallel         # Run workers in parallel
/agile-coordinator --sequential       # Run workers one at a time (default)
```

### Flags

| Flag | Description | Default |
|------|-------------|---------|
| `--sequential` | Execute tasks one at a time | Yes |
| `--parallel` | Execute tasks concurrently | No |
| `--max-workers N` | Maximum concurrent workers | 2 |
| `--dry-run` | Show plan without executing | No |
| `--autonomous` | Auto-continue at all checkpoints | Yes |
| `--supervised` | Pause after each task completes | No |
| `--verbose` | Show all worker updates | No |
| `--summary-only` | Show major milestones only | Yes |

---

## Workflow Phases

### Phase 1: Discovery

Read the backlog to find tasks ready for implementation.

```
Actions:
1. Read context/backlog/ for task files
2. Filter to status: ready
3. Parse task metadata (priority, size, dependencies)
4. Sort by priority (high → medium → low)
5. Present findings
