## What it does

This skill shifts product design away from single-screen interactions toward cumulative relationships. Traditional preference models store static items like themes and language. Here, the system tracks behavioral routines, emotional context, and evolving goals across sessions. The framework is structured around five pillars: contextual memory, graduated trust, relationship-centric architecture, self-planning paths, and relationship-quality metrics.

Trust develops in three distinct phases. First comes transparency, where the agent discloses all reasoning and data sources. Second is selective disclosure for high-stakes choices. Third is autonomous action with clear undo mechanisms. The skill provides design patterns for confidence indicators, memory inspection, and explicit forgetting controls.

The skill strictly forbids use on general UI tasks, static websites, or one-off transactions without logins. Do not apply it to medical equipment. In life-critical contexts, consistency matters far more than dynamic adaptation.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bencium/bencium-marketplace --skill agentic-ux-design---relationship-centric-interfaces -a claude-code
```
```bash
npx skills add bencium/bencium-marketplace --skill relationship-design -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/relationship-design/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/relationship-design/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bencium/bencium-marketplace --skill relationship-design -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/relationship-design/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bencium/bencium-marketplace --skill relationship-design -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/relationship-design/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install bencium/bencium-marketplace relationship-design
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/relationship-design/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bencium/bencium-marketplace --skill relationship-design -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/bencium/bencium-marketplace --path relationship-design/skills/relationship-design
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/relationship-design/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bencium/bencium-marketplace --skill relationship-design -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- design interfaces that remember user patterns across sessions
- implement progressive disclosure controls for AI reasoning
- add forgetting controls so users manage stored memories
- track relationship quality metrics instead of conversion rates

## Example prompts
- Use the Relationship Design skill to design a persistent agent interface for our analytics app.
- Apply agentic UX design to create a three-stage trust model for automated task execution.
- Help me structure collaborative planning UX with cross-session goal continuity.

# Agentic UX Design - Relationship-Centric Interfaces

## Overview

**The paradigm shift from screen-centric to relationship-centric design.**

Traditional UX optimizes individual screens and isolated interactions. Agentic UX designs for ongoing relationships where systems learn, remember, and evolve alongside users across sessions, devices, and contexts.

**Core principle:** Every interaction builds on learned preferences and user history. Systems don't just respond—they develop understanding that compounds over time.

**Announce at start:** "I'm using the Relationship Design skill to create an agentic, memory-aware interface that builds long-term relationships with users."

## When to Use

Use this skill when:
- Designing AI-powered applications, chatbots, or agent systems
- Building interfaces with repeated user interactions over time
- Creating systems that should learn from user behavior
- Rethinking traditional dashboards or SaaS products for the AI era
- Users complain about "starting over" every session
- You need to measure relationship quality, not just conversion rates
- Designing for trust evolution from transparency to autonomy
- Building collaborative planning features (human + AI co-creation)

**When NOT to use:**
- Simple one-time transactions with no user accounts
- Static content websites with no personalization needs
- Systems where memory/learning creates privacy concerns
- Interfaces where consistency > adaptation (e.g., medical equipment)

## The Five Pillars of Agentic UX

### 1. Memory Revolution: From Static Preferences to Contextual Intelligence

**Old model:** Store static preferences (theme: dark, language: EN)

**New model:** Maintain dynamic, evolving relationship models

**Design for:**
