## What it does

The skill lays out a project structure for agents: `agents/`, `tools/`, `prompts/`, `memory/`, `skills/`, plus tests and a separate folder for evals. It ships working examples — a Pydantic AI agent with a typed result via `BaseModel`, and an agentic loop on `@anthropic-ai/sdk` that handles `tool_use` and `tool_result` blocks.

The workflow has four phases: explore, plan, execute, verify. In the plan phase the agent gets the task and context and returns JSON with a steps array, where each step lists the action, the tools to use, the success criteria and what could go wrong. Execution walks the steps one at a time and verifies after each; on failure the agent either self-corrects or stops. Verification is separate: run the step's test command first, then have the model check the result against the criteria.

Framework choice follows the language. Python gets Pydantic AI, Node.js and Next.js get the Claude Agent SDK. On any other stack you will be rewriting the examples yourself. The skill is marked as not user-invocable, so it works as a reference the agent reads rather than a slash command you type.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill agentic-development -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/agentic-development/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/agentic-development/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill agentic-development -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/agentic-development/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill agentic-development -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/agentic-development/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alinaqi/maggy agentic-development
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/agentic-development/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill agentic-development -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy --path skills/agentic-development
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/agentic-development/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill agentic-development -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy/tree/HEAD/skills/agentic-development/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- lay out a project structure for agents
- write an agentic loop that handles tool calls
- get a typed result back from a Python agent
- add per-step verification and self-correction
- pick the right framework for the project's language

## Example prompts
- build a Pydantic AI agent that searches for articles and returns a list of results
- write an agentic loop with the Claude Agent SDK and a web_search tool
- lay out the project structure for a multi-agent system with an orchestrator

## Framework Selection by Language

| Language/Framework | Default | Why |
|-------------------|---------|-----|
| **Python** | **Pydantic AI** | Type-safe, Pydantic validation, multi-model, production-ready |
| **Node.js / Next.js** | **Claude Agent SDK** | Official Anthropic SDK, tools, multi-agent, native streaming |

### Python: Pydantic AI (Default)
```python
from pydantic_ai import Agent
from pydantic import BaseModel
class SearchResult(BaseModel):
    title: str
    url: str
    summary: str
agent = Agent(
    'claude-sonnet-4-6',
    result_type=list[SearchResult],
    system_prompt='You are a research assistant.',
)
# Type-safe result
result = await agent.run('Find articles about AI agents')
for item in result.data:
    print(f"{item.title}: {item.url}")
```

### Node.js / Next.js: Claude Agent SDK (Default)
```typescript
import Anthropic from "@anthropic-ai/sdk";
const client = new Anthropic();
// Define tools
const tools: Anthropic.Tool[] = [
  {
    name: "web_search",
    description: "Search the web for information",
    input_schema: {
      type: "object",
      properties: {
        query: { type: "string", description: "Search query" },
      },
      required: ["query"],
    },
  },
];
// Agentic loop
async function runAgent(prompt: string) {
  const messages: Anthropic.MessageParam[] = [
    { role: "user", content: prompt },
  ];
  while (true) {
    const response = await client.messages.create({
      model: "claude-sonnet-4-6",
      max_tokens: 4096,
      tools,
      messages,
    });
    // Check for tool use
    if (response.stop_reason === "tool_use") {
      const toolUse = response.content.find((b) => b.type === "tool_use");
      if (toolUse) {
        const result = await executeTool(toolUse.name, toolUse.input);
