## What it does

A-Frame sits on top of Three.js and builds scenes out of HTML tags. The skill teaches the agent that model: entities are containers, components add looks and behaviour, systems handle global logic. Primitives such as `<a-box>` and `<a-sphere>` are shorthand for common entity-plus-component pairs.

Covered in the file: scenes and cameras, lighting, materials and textures, animations, asset preloading through `<a-assets>`, and custom components registered with `AFRAME.registerComponent`. There is a camera rig example with hand controllers for VR. A scene injects its own camera at height 1.6, mouse look and WASD movement.

The text stops partway through the common patterns section, so do not count on detail about AR hit testing. If your project has nothing to do with immersive web graphics, this skill just eats context.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill aframe-webxr -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/aframe-webxr/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/aframe-webxr/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill aframe-webxr -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/aframe-webxr/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill aframe-webxr -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/aframe-webxr/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install freshtechbro/claudedesignskills aframe-webxr
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/aframe-webxr/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill aframe-webxr -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --path plugins/bundles/extended-3d-scroll/skills/aframe-webxr
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/aframe-webxr/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add freshtechbro/claudedesignskills --skill aframe-webxr -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/freshtechbro/claudedesignskills/tree/HEAD/plugins/bundles/extended-3d-scroll/skills/aframe-webxr/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a VR scene from HTML primitives without hand-writing Three.js
- drop a glTF model onto a web page
- wire up hand controllers and laser pointers for a headset
- ship a viewer for 360-degree video or a panorama
- register a custom component with per-frame logic

## Example prompts
- Build an A-Frame scene with a floor, a couple of primitives and soft directional light
- Add a VR rig with the camera at 1.6 and controllers for both hands
- Write a rotate-on-click component that spins the object when clicked

# A-Frame WebXR Skill

## When to Use This Skill
- Build VR/AR experiences with minimal JavaScript
- Create cross-platform WebXR applications (desktop, mobile, headset)
- Prototype 3D scenes quickly with HTML primitives
- Implement VR controller interactions
- Add 3D content to web pages declaratively
- Build 360° image/video experiences
- Develop AR experiences with hit testing

## Core Concepts

### 1. Entity-Component-System (ECS)

A-Frame uses an entity-component-system architecture where:
- **Entities** are containers (like `<div>` in HTML)
- **Components** add functionality/appearance to entities
- **Systems** provide global functionality

```html
<!-- Entity with components -->
<a-entity
  geometry="primitive: box; width: 2"
  material="color: red; metalness: 0.5"
  position="0 1.5 -3"
  rotation="0 45 0">
</a-entity>
```

**Primitives** are shortcuts for common entity + component combinations:

```html
<!-- Primitive (shorthand) -->
<a-box color="red" position="0 1.5 -3" rotation="0 45 0" width="2"></a-box>
<!-- Equivalent entity-component form -->
<a-entity
  geometry="primitive: box; width: 2"
  material="color: red"
  position="0 1.5 -3"
  rotation="0 45 0">
</a-entity>
```

### 2. Scene Setup

Every A-Frame app starts with `<a-scene>`:

```html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <script src="https://aframe.io/releases/1.7.1/aframe.min.js"></script>
  </head>
  <body>
    <a-scene>
      <!-- Entities go here -->
      <a-box position="-1 0.5 -3" color="#4CC3D9"></a-box>
      <a-sphere position="0 1.25 -5" radius="1.25" color="#EF2D5E"></a-sphere>
      <a-cylinder position="1 0.75 -3" radius="0.5" height="1.5" color="#FFC65D"></a-cylinder>
      <a-plane position="0 0 -4" rotation="-90 0 0" width="4" height="4" color="#7BC8A4"></a-plane>
      <a-sky color="#ECECEC"></a-sky>
    </a-scene>
  </body>
</html>
```

The scene automatically injects:
- Default camera (position: `0 1.6 0`)
- Look controls (mouse drag)
- WASD controls (keyboard movement)

### 3. Camera Systems

**Default Camera** (auto-injected if none specified):

```html
<a-entity camera="active: true" look-controls wasd-controls position="0 1.6 0"></a-entity>
```

**Custom Camera**:

```html
